Field Trip

Just got back from a 2 night, 3 day field trip to the NC mountains with 100 9th graders.  I am completely wiped out.  I feel worse than I did when I came back from Vegas.

Anyone ever had extended field trip woes?

We were supposed to get back at 7pm last night and got back at 11pm due to a tire mishap with one of the buses. eesshhh

Re: Field Trip

  • I wasn't on this trip, but a teacher last year did a day trip to San Francisco to see an exhibit with her kids. Some chaperone decided it would be ok to take her group across the street to the shopping center and go shopping. The head teacher couldn't get in contact with the woman and instead of leaving at 3 they left at 7 and were nearly ready to call the police to find this mom and the kids. It was crazy. Good thing you have a three day weekend to recover from your trip!
  • I took my band kids to Six Flags last year. We left Friday morning and got back Sunday afternoon. They were great, we all had a great time. Only one kid got sick (I think she and I both were suffering from roller coaster hangovers) but overall, they loved it.

I think it was the first time for any of those kids to go on a school trip overnight :) I was even able to go to sleep at 11 and get up at 7 or so without having to check on them all night. Some of them were up earlier than me, getting their hotel lobby breakfast lol.

  • We took 60 7th graders to Charleston in May.  We left early Thursday morning, did stuff all day, spent the night on the USS Yorktown, were busy the next day, left around 5, stopped for dinner, and were back at school around 10.  The kids were great and it was a fun trip, but I slept so good that night when I got home!
