OMG, how could I forget? We DO have an awesome photographer already!!
And, OP? I went to the website...I was not that impressed with the work...the color seemed weird on some of it. I wasn't blown away by the photos.
And the website is not set up well.

You guys need to relax. Shameless promoting? That post was completely legitimate, and I had not read the rules and regulations for the site before I posted. I apologize, and thanks for the completely rude comment.
That post was NOT legitimate.

OK, so the guy didn't read the rules before posting and self promoting. A gentle reminder like "hey, if you're interested in joining our discussion forum, being an active member and talking about your work; cool, welcome to the board! However, one post accounts to advertise self businesses typically aren't that well received." would have done the trick.
And how about if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all? Was it necessary to go to such great lengths to rip on the website and work? Kind of a d!ck move if you ask me. It seemed so mean spirited.
I didn't say anything mean until I was accused of being rude. And I think saying "I didn't read the rules" is a lame excuse.
Besides, if it was my work and website, I would want someone to let me know what they think, which is what I did.

First, there are more photographers on this board than just the "resident" one. The other ones don't post as often. I'm sure the "resident" photographer would not want you being rude to other photographers in honor of her. She's definitely not that type of professional.
Second, being rude is not ok. They didn't read the TOS. Big damn deal.
Third, JK/Sour, I don't think it's really appropriate to bash his website and work like that. Photography, like all art, is subjective. I'm sure there are people who don't like the style of photography that I prefer to use with my child.
Fourth, posts like this are going to continue to drive Nesties away from GR board. We used to pride ourselves on being a very nice board. This is not an example of that.
Agreed.
Constructive criticism is okay, but is best done privately. They weren't asking for opinions of their work - so, unless they're asking, if the comments are negative it's probably best kept to yourself.
Saying that someone is shameless is being rude. Your comments hurt my feelings. I'll have you know that we are new to photography. We have been doing it for 2 years. Recent college grads, who are trying to build our business. Like I said in my original post, our website is temporary, we are building a new one.
Your critiques are not welcomed. You may not like our photos, but someone else might. Everyone is?entitled?to their opinion. We understand that times are tough, and spending the time and money for photos may not be an option for some folks. I posted that, because we are asking for very little money for our work. We actually spent a lot of time editing those photos, so your comments did hurt my feelings. You just drove a nestie, and a knottie away from this site. I actively use this website for my wedding and my family. I will be canceling my membership.?
I recongize your business name from your SIL. I know a few people who have gotten pictures taken for you and your husband. So I know you are not some national company or fake company who isn't legit. I think when there is some random post, out-of-the-blue, people assume it is someone who joined for the purpose of promoting their business as quick as they can before their account get deactive. We have have some strange people here before. I have to admit, that I rolled my eye when I first starting reading your post and then noticed your husband's business name.
Let's wipe the slate clean, start over fresh.
What happened today is not reflective of the board as a whole. Please stick around if you would like. Join in a poster and we will get to learn about your business as we learn more about you.

You guys are right, I was out of line. I'm sorry, don't let my rudeness chase you away, I'm hardly around here anyway thanks to work.
Yes please stick around! You should start a post introducing yourself to us, we are very friendly board (normally) and would love to get to know you.
