disney info

Not sure if anyone here can help, but it's the only Florida board.  We are visiting family in Sarasota next week, then heading up to Disney for 1 day on Friday.  Looking for a cheap hotel near Disney to stay friday night.  We will be heading to GA from there....I would prefer to find a hotel along our route back to GA.  What areas should I look in?  The sites tell you Main Gate, Kissimee, Universal Studios.....not sure where I need to be.

Re: disney info

  • theres a central florida board that would be helpful.

on your route to ga, will you be taking 75 north towards atlanta, or 95 more to savannah? Orlando is pretty central, and most hotel's are communtable to the highway.

Maingate is the main entrance to disney, and west of town, closer to the turnpike (which takes you to 75). maingate will be more expensive.

kissimmee is probally the least expensive option

universal is very close to i4 and the turnpike but a little further from disney.

cost wise maingate is more expnsive, then universal then kissimmee.

you could also do your day at disney, and drive a little ways after the day at disney and get a hotel along your route to ga, places like clermont, ocala, orange city and sanford are outside the city of orlando and may offer a lesser expensive hotel.  and would have you out of city traffic for the morning when you head out.

  • lake buena vista is where "disney" is. Don't waste money on a disney resort. There's a Ramada with an indoor pool that's nice on International Drive (pretty close to the park) I'd go to hotels.com and type in lake buena vista. There are SO MANY just WHATEVER you do don't stay at America's Best or Knights Inn...They're SOOOOO GROSS!!!!

  • I agree with the previous post about the Disney hotels. I will be going there in 2 weeks. Lake Buena Vista/Downtown Disney are the areas that are close to pretty much every thing from restaurants and shops. As far as close to your exit, this area is of a very small perimeter and all things are pretty close.

The Royal Plaza and Regal Sun Resort are two of the hotels I researched. We are staying in the former one. They are both on Hotel Plaza Boulevard right across Downtown Disney. Very comfy they seem at economical rates.
