My poor dog. He was restless a bit last night as to be expected since he had his surgery Friday. He spent one night at the vet, and then came home. Saturday night he was so restless and I kept getting up with him. Last night at 3am I noticed he was leaking just a tiny bit of fluid from his stitches. I stayed up because I was so nervous it got worse. I spoke to the emergency line at our vet's office and we are bringing him in at noon. She thinks he has an infection.
Re: I have been up since 3
Ugh. Poor DoggieCrushing. Let us know what the vet says today!
Some of my older dogs (older than 1 year) have a hard time with neuter recovery. If they are 3-plus y/o, forget about it, it is days before they can function again.
Anytime. I have probably seen it all when it comes to speuters! LOL.
Once, one of my 3 y/o dog's sack swelled up SO bad after neuter I had to take him back in and have him put back under because he was in so much pain. They turned purple and it was so bad. Poor guy. That was about a week of healing. It seriously hurt to see him walk after because they were that reddish purple bruised color for a while even after he felt better.
Did they do external stitches or only internal?
We are back from the vet. He has both internal and external stitches. See only one of his testicles ever dropped so while he was being neutered the vet had to go and retrieve the other testicle in his abdomen which is why we had waited until he was over a year. She said that the larger the testicle is the easier it is for her to find it. So he has a lot of stitches!
She said he has an infection so now he has to take antibiotics for 14 days, and she gave him some more pain meds. She told me to take a warm compress to the area that is leaking four times a day.
Punky that sounds so awful what happened to your dog. That poor pup.
Ah, Blue only had 1 testicle descend too. His other one was way up in his stomach. Poor baby, I hope he bounces back quickly. A warm compress will help a lot, I used that on Blue as well and carried him up and down stairs for a week so he didn't have to stretch his legs or anything.
