Alicia

You mentioned an at home birth.  How would the person you know help me, if she's in Portland?  Does she have contacts or something like that?

I know nothing about that, so I'm not sure what I even think about the possibility.  :)

My big thing is someone I'm comfortable with and as soon as I saw "no iv" for the midwife center, I got a big smile on my face.  Haha.  But I know there can always be complications and stuff, or if I had to have a c-section I would have to go to a hospital, so I have to keep that in mind and definitely find someone I do like and trust.  Which for me tends to be hard with doctors in general.

Re: Alicia

  • I just mentioned her because I thought you might want to ask her questions to help with your decision. I'm going to Portland this weekend and having lunch with her and I'm planning to ask her a bazillion questions that I know my mid wife won't have time for (since I have Kaiser for my healthcare provider and they don't give us much attention) and that I may not feel comfortable asking during our labor class.
  • Oh, ok!  Thanks!

Hmm... I'm not sure what I would ask her right now because I don't know what else to ask, other than what I wrote down.  :)  Although I'm a little disappointed that I left a phone message and sent an email and the midwife center hasn't even called me back.  I'm thinking that's probably not a good sign.

    Are you nervous about labor?

  • You know, I'm actually looking forward to labor. I think that's kind of weird, but I want to see what all the fuss is about and I really can't wait to see Natalie. I think I'm in complete denial about how much it's going to hurt, but that's okay...
