Where do you hide gifts?

DH's bday is on Thurs and seriously, he has radar when it comes to gifts - he just doesn't know it!  He's so busy all the time and totally doesn't notice stuff, but then he was emptying the recycle (which he never does of course) and asks me what came in a certain box (it was a weird size box).  I mean, what were the chances!!!!!!!!

I usually try hiding them in the kid's rooms if it is for DH, or the basement for the kids.  But sometimes it seems like the more obvious spots are the best! If we ever finish our basement, I would love a closet down there where I could put the kid's gifts.

Just curious where you hide your 'loot'!

Re: Where do you hide gifts?

  • I hide most gifts in our front hall closet.  No one ever goes in there.

I tore our old house apart looking for my engagement ring before DH gave it to me (I knew he had it for about a month before he finally proposed) and he had it on the top of his dresser the whole time.  I never thought to look somewhere so out-in-the-open.

  • I'll use the closet in JB's room.  It's a walk-in and we don't really use it for JB.  The only problem is that once a while K goes in there for stuff.  I've also been known to hide things in the linens in my bathroom (we use seperate baths) because K doesn't use those towels or the sheets for the guest bed.

Growing up my mom had a box at the top of her closet.  We knew what it was and I was always tempted to peek, but never did.

  • In my bedroom closet- there's no way DH would go in there, it's a disaster! If it's something too large (rarely) I will either leave it in the trunk of my car, or stash it at work until right before I give it.

  • Either in my closet or the back of my truck. DH thinks they are both messy so won't go near them.

  • We have a few extra bedrooms that we hardly go into, so I hide Dh's gifts in one of those room's closets.

Dh likes to hide my gifts in either the attic or basement.  He knows I will NOT go looking around in those areas.  Lol

  • I designate a place in my closet and tell him that is where I put gifts, so he knows not to look there if he doesn't want to ruin the surprise (I put his gifts in another bag so he can't tell where it's from if he happens to go in there). If you share a closet, make room in the bottom of a dresser or somewhere he doesn't normally use, and simply tell him not to look there. If he peeks, it's his own damn fault!
