My stomach is turning b/c I'm so stressed about this. I love my job, it has it's moments but I know with my company I'll never be a full time sales rep (I do a little bit of everything at my work, lol) and was just offered a job from a bigger, more organized company to be a trainee for sales/merchandiser.
The only thing is, they offered me like $3.00 less/hour than what I currently make. They are taking it to corporate to see if they could get me more $. I'm still debating if I wanta leave, am I going to be a total biotch if they get it approved for more $ and I don't even take it? b/c I might change my mind down the road and I don't wanta burn any bridges. WDYT? Obviously, please keep this off of FB. Thanks ladies
Re: Was just offered a job
Congrats! I know the feeling...
When I left my job in Dallas - I wasn't sure what I was going to do when we moved out here. I ended up taking a job that pays about half of what I was making - at first I wasn't sure if it was something I wanted to do - but the job itself is worth it. I'm happier, love my job, love my co-workers, and love life out here - it's totally worth every penny of the pay cut.
So - my advice to you - listen to your heart about it. Where will you be happiest? Keep us updated on what happens!! :-)
I agree with LadyBird...
You are obvisouly looking for another job, but if you arn't entirely in love with it, or feel great about it... then don't take it.
First...I suggest *only* accepting the new job if they can at least match what you make now. I took a paycut to work for the DNR because I love to hug trees. But we are so financially strapped because of it now and it sucks a big one.
And...can you advance where you are now? If not, and the other company has advancement opportunities as well as match your pay...you might have to take a leap of faith (and hope!).
And if you decide that you don't want to accept it...you're just too sweet for them to think you're a biotch!
It's a big decision...good luck and congrats!

Too bad this didn't happen to me...I've told DH that he needs to make up for my paycut! ha! But the zoo pays squat too! But it "looks good on a resume".
So I guess I should modify my answer...if a paycut doesn't make you pull your hair out every month when you have to pay bills, then do what you think will make you happiest!

In my case I needed a new job...1 I hated where I was, and because we were moving. I was lucky that I ended up with a great job, and a pay raise. However, I was so miserable at my other job I would have taken a massive paycut. DH wouldn't have been too happy about it as I'm the bread winner, but my happiness is more important
.
It can be scary to get a job offer and have to make a big decision - try and think about the future and which job is best in the long run.
Agreed!

I had to make a decision like this a few months ago. Something else was offered with more potential, but a little less money. I ended up staying with my current job, because there were a lot of other things set into place that a job change would have affected. You just need to do what's best for you.
As far as burning bridges, if you leave your job on a high note, and let them know that this is a great opportunity, they can't hold it against you. The bridge is still open, you're just trying to move forward with your career.
Good luck!
good luck, i hope they up the pay.
if you decided to stay and they match your pay, be honest. thank them for going the extra mile to match, but at the moment, the right place is for you to stay where you are.
