I shouldn't have come in to work today

I'm slightly worried I'm going to get stuck in Temple today.  On my way, the highway was already starting to flood and cops had access roads closed because there is a river about ten miles south of Temple.  If this rain keeps up, will I even be able to get home?!

Oh, and I definitely shouldn't have bothered with my hair and makeup. The fifteen foot run into the building ruined all that.

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Re: I shouldn't have come in to work today

  • Bummer.  Hopefully it will go down after this morning.
  • I hope it will be ok and I hope my DH can make it to work on time, he left Dallas at 7:00 and needs to be at work by 11:00!! I am wearing my plastic rain boots on, and didn't bother with hair/make up.

Where does he need to be by 11? Austin?

Yes, his work is at I35 & 290. I called him up and he didn't pick up. He was just passed Waxahachi at 8:00.

  • I wouldn't pick up either. Roads are ridiculously wet. Definitely a both hands on the wheel kind of morning. Southbound between Temple and Georgetown I saw a ton of emergency vehicles, but not a backup, so hopefully he'll make it in time.

I figured that's what it was, so I didn't try again.

You be carefull drving home this afternoon, hopefully the rain will slow down by then.

  • Thanks, I will!

I think it's crazy that (1) this was only a tropical storm, not even a hurricane, and (2) they were forecasting 1-4 inches in the area, and instead we got 11-15!

I saw footage on KVUE of Georgetown and thought of you Leigha.  I hope you can make it home tonight, you know by fording rivers and caulking your wagon and such.

Nice!  Then you'll have plenty of entertainment while you wait for a ferry on I-35  :)
