Vinny (or other Denverites) - you around?
I just found out I made it to the next stage for a job I applied for in Lakewood and now I have to do an in-person "oral exam". I'm looking on expedia for a hotel somewhat near the Fed center that is not super ghetto. Any suggestions? Do hotels with shuttles that will take you places (like near the Fed center and to the DMV) exist in Lakewood?

Congratulations and good luck!
I'm not too sure about anything that could be classified as "super awesome" in that area. If you end up needing to stay in hotels, I would look at anything that is listed as Denver West. I just ran a search on Expedia. There appear to be a couple of hotels that are listed as Fed Center/Denver West. Those are good ones, and they will most certainly have courtesy shuttles.
I always found lakewood to be a little jank in general..there are some hotels off of Sims/ Union that are decent, though.
can you just stay downtown and take a cab?
then you can stay at the Curtis (which I LOOOOVE)
I do agree with you there Edith. Simms and Union is exactly where I was thinking.
I have never been to the Curtis, but there are a bunch of good boutique hotels downtown. It is pretty easy to get some sweet deals doing that Priceline, or whatever the bidding hotel site is. Just bid on 4 star hotels, and you can get something under $70.
I like the monaco, too- but whenever we could get a MIL to come, we'd always spend the night at the Curtis. (and eat dinner at the corner office, because their lobster mac and cheese was the bessssst.
we lived downtown, (highlands) but it still was fun to go spend the night away from the children...even if we never left town.
I miss denver.
( I never thought I would- it seemed too midwestern, but we just moved to KANSAS. so...naturally...ugh.)
Hey, I lived in the Highlands for about a year after college (2001-ish). I love that area, but have been priced out of it.
Kansas is death. Well, more Kansas City, MO is death. I lived there for a couple of months. Ick.
I am a townie. I love Denver and plan to never leave again.
we're in Lawrence...which i guess is pretty boulder-ish from what I can tell ( I love boulder- but its so expensive to live down town!)

please. don't encourage my self pity.
I'm trying to be mature about this (good schools are here, I am a (choke) SAHM, lower cost of living, better air quality) it's FOR THE KIDS!!!!
sob. sniffle.
