Colorado/Georgia nestie needs help/advice

Hey girls! I am originally from Colorado, but have lived in Savannah, GA for a couple months.  I was ready to leave here and go back to CO next week, but then a job opportunity in Waltham, MA came up.  I know basically nothing about Boston, and don't really want to go back to CO.   I'm desperately searching for a room to rent for a month or two, until I know if this job will pan out or not.  Any suggestions or advice?  I've emailed tons of craigslist ads, but most don't allow pets (I have 2 cats).  TIA!

Re: Colorado/Georgia nestie needs help/advice

  • I can't offer much help on the rental front as I've actually never rented in the Boston area.  As for Waltham, though, several of us on the board live there and it's a pretty good suburb.  It's about 20 minutes west of the city, there's a thriving restaurant scene, close to lots of stuff, and many large tech/biotech/VC firms in the area have offices here.

Can the company you're going to work for point you towards any apartment-searching resources?

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Isn't someone on the board looking for a roommate for their sister?  Maybe that was a while ago...

Are you looking to live in Waltham or the city?

  • I live in Waltham and love it :).  I used to work for a company in Waltham and we had a lot of people from Europe stay here for a few months here and there.  There are a bunch of apartment complexes (Windsor Village comes to mind) that I believe rent on a month-to-month basis.  You might have to pay extra pet rent (which I think is ridiculous) at the complexes but you could probably find something for a few months this way.  I would just google "Waltham apartment complexes" and call a few.
