My darling sweet adorable fiance got a puppy (a very cute husky) several months ago. He is in the air force and works long hours. He had a roommate who was on alternating shifts so they figured they would be there enough to get her out to pee during the day, but they were wrong. They couldn't bare to crate her during the day so they shut her into the second living room which has hardwood floors for the day.
Every time she made a mess in there they didn't really clean up so well. I do not have before and after pictures of the last time I visited and spend 3-5 hours on my hands and knees scrubbing (and this is not a huge huge room either). But after a bucket of hot water and half a refill pack of swiffer wet mop cloths the floor still turns up dirty and smells like dog pee.
I've heard that white vinegar will work to get the smell out but I'm still a little nervous that my house will smell like a bad fast food restaurant AND dog pee after. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I clean it.
Also this is a rental and I'm terrified we won't get the deposit back when we leave.
Re: Don't Judge Please! Not My Fault! Hardwood floor problem...
Nature's Miracle works wonders. Get the Advanced formula.
You can also use vinegar and water mixed together. With wood floors - make sure you dry them with a towel or paper towels after you clean so the floorboards don't warp.
I would not suggest puppy pads. As they do not help with potty training. However, crate training a dog is a great way to help with potty problems.
We used these with our dog when we first got her and they worked wonderfully, we put them in front of the door we wnated her to use to go potty. so now when ever she has to go potty she sits by that door for us to take her out
..nevermind I just saw that you crate train her now
Use apple cider vinegar and water. Keep a fan on it so it dries. Once you get the overall mess cleaned up use an enzymatic cleaner on any accidents (Nature's Miracle, Ewww, or Urine-Off). I have hardwood floors throughout my first floor and have two dogs and a baby so I am always cleaning up messes.
My old house had pet pee problems and it was so bad that I needed to have the bad parts of the floor replaced becasue my dogs would not leave it alone. Hopefully, your problem is not that bad.
