I'm gonna get fat.

I'm starting a wilton class on sunday and decided to the bake cookies we need to take to the first class today. They needed to be flat. I tried a new recipe and the cookies came out lumpy/bumpy so I don't think they'll work too well. I'm going to make sugar cookies now... jeez.

Re: I'm gonna get fat.

  • what recipe do you use for your sugar cookies??? I have one that is super good

    3 cups powdered sugar
2 cups butter or margarine, softened
    2 teaspoons vanilla
    1 teaspoon almond extract
    2 eggs
5 cups Gold Medal? all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    2 teaspoons cream of tartar

  • mmmmm cookies.

I started baking over the summer and I definitely put on a pound or two-- especially since Greg doesn't eat sweets! I started sending them into work with him-- could you do the same?

Or, just eat them all yourself without shame! I think either is a fine choice!

  • haha i love baking but I never do because I know I'll gain a ton of weight from eating what I bake! Brandon is good and won't eat very much of it, but if I take it to work I just eat a TON cuz he's not there to tell me to slow my roll haha. He saves my waistline.

  • Thanks Pamila! I already made a batch with a recipe off of 'all recipes'. They're pretty yummy.

I'm checking to see if I can freeze them. Otherwise I'll send some to school with DH on Tuesday... but by then they won't be as good I bet. Maybe I'll give some to our upstairs neighbour.

  • You can freeze the dough, I don't know if you can freeze after you bake though

  • You can freeze after you bake... but problem solved. Half the batch got burned on the bottom... maybe because it said not to grease the pan and I was reusing the pans.
  • ooh yeah you gotta let the pans cool down before you put your second batch on!

I thought they were... now I know! haha

  • I love to bake, but HH and I both put on weight if I do. I have come up with a solution, however. I am going to bake brownies and send them to work with him for his boys in group therapy. They loosen up and talk a lot more if he makes them coffee or something, so just imagine how chatty they will be if I send them big, gooey brownies. Smile
  • You are going to be eating a lot of cake.  When I took the Wilton classes last summer we had constant cake.  And we kind of got used to always have cakes and desserts so we eat dessert every night now.  H has gained a little weight, but luckily we both workout enough that it hasn't really affected us.

  • Send them to me - the baby likes cookies. ;-)
The Bump ate my signature. DD - Apr 2011 DS - expected June 2013
  • Buckeye - I'm going to send them to school with DH. Maybe freeze one for when we have guests.

CTgirl - I'm going to have a cookie baby!

  • I just burnt the edges of my brownies because I was balancing the checkbook and lost track of time! :(

Eh, they're teenage boys. They'll eat anything.
