Ortho Cyclen users, I have a question for you

I have been on Ortho Cyclen for about 3 months.  I used to be on Ortho Tri Cyclen and Sronyx (trying to find a good pill that doesn't kill my sex drive), but then I switched to Ortho Cyclen.  The first two months my period was very light, only a couple days and my cramps were pretty bad.  This is my third month on the pill and I have been lightly spotting for a couple days, but today I was supposed to start and nothing yet (usually I get it first thing in the morning).  DH and I use condoms and the pill (yeah, I know it is overkill, but we really don't want to have a baby right now) and I took a pregnancy test today and it says negative.  I guess I am just wondering if a light or skipped period is common with this particular pill?

    It's common with any pill actually.  And given that you've only been on it for 3 months, then its normal to have side effects.  The last pill I was on (which I stopped taking the pill 3 years ago, so I have no clue what brand that was) I would have either no period or a very light period.  Doctor said it was common.

    Thanks for the reply.  I guess I was just surprised it has been so light, or almost non existant (haven't needed to use a tampon yet) with this pill.  When I was on the others it was not nearly as light.  Good to know though.Smile

    I have not found that i have bad cramps on ortho cylen but the day i got my period did. When i was on ortho tr cyclen my period would always start on wed after my last pill the sat before (i always start my new pack on sunday nights), but on ortho cyclen my period starts on tue usually.

     

    I would talk to your doctor too if you have any questions or concerns about the pill.

    When I was on it, my periods stopped altogether.  I loved it!

    I have been on Ortho Cyclen about 18 months, and really it depends on the month.  My period is generally lighter, and I have a lot less cramping.  Usually I start my period on my 3rd day of my plocebo pills (I don't start the pack on a set day, whatever day it falls on I start it).  Both last month and this month, 2 days before the plocebos, I spotted, and then it stopped.  Then I got my period as usual.  Any changes to my cycle that I'm worried about, I always call my OB right away, but I think this latest thing is due to stress.
