Carrie - Just curious (and if you don't want to answer, that's ok!)...
Did you ever go to see the Dr about your trouble TTC?
Heather - Did you ever have an endometrial biopsy?
I'm curious because I saw a new Dr 2 weeks ago and she is sending me for a endometrial biopsy next week to help find out why I'm not ovulating and getting my period on a regular basis. Then, depending on the results she with either put me on clomid or send me to a fertility dr. I really liked this new dr, so I'm hoping to stay with her, and she came highly recommended from a lot of people. the fun never ends, right?
Re: Carrie & Heather
I don't mind answering!
The answer is sort of.
After the 2nd m/c, she did a blood test after O to confirm that my progesterone is low. So from here on out, I'm taking a progesterone supplement, starting with cd14 and doing it until AF shows or I get a BFP. If I get a BFP, then I'll keep taking it through 1st tri.
My plan has been to give it a few months...maybe until the new year. At that point, if I'm not pg, I'm either demanding more testing or finding a new doctor.
I did, however, just learn tonight that 21 days' worth of the meds are $166...and my insurance doesn't cover it! So DH and I may need to think rethink our options slightly sooner before we waste a ton of money.

I believe my RE did that when I had a sonosomething back in February. When he did it he found that some of my hormone levels were a tad high and that is one of our problems. I also have PCOS so that doesn't help the matters.
My OB asked if I ever had a lap procedure done and I hadn't, so I wonder if he will mention doing that when I go back in April or May. I am thinking that it is about the same as what I have already had done.
It is frustrating. It could be that we do this procedure again and it works, but I am just not ready to go through all that again. We can find the money, but I don't know if I want to go through it again.
Carrie--I understand about costs. I would ask your doctor if there is another brand and see if insurance covers it. The vitamins that the RE had us on were about $100 something a month and we have stopped taking them because of the costs and plus we are not doing any procedures anyway. I agree it might be a good idea to talk. The money that you are paying out each month for meds could be used if you have to have any treatments, which I hope you don't. It is so tough when you know that you need somethin to help you, but the sticker price is a lot.
I hate that insurance companies will pay for you to prevent PG or get rid of PG (someone said our insurance pays for that), but won't cover someone who wants a child. I guess they look at the bottom dollar. I keep telling G we need to move to a state that has mandated IF insurance.
The fun is just getting started. Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is going on. Will they also check and make sure your tubes are clear? I had a sonosomething along with my biopsy and didn't know if that is something they could do for you.
Have they checked your hormone levels (I believe FSH and something else)? My new RE this was the first thing he checked and he found that is one of the reasons for our issues. It was a simple test. They brought me in and took a lot of blood vials, gave me somekind of shot, and then 24 hours later I had to go back to the doctor to get blood draw. I believe it is called the Lupon Challenge, but I can look it up at home if you would like me too. This is something I wish our first RE checked because we could have done 50 IUI's and they most likely would have never worked because of my hormone levels.
Hopefully you will just need to do Clomid (make sure you are monitored) as that is the least expensive option.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I don't have all the answers, but having been through some of this I might be able to help answer any questions.
I had blood work done in the spring and the Dr I was seeing then said that everything was fine and really didn't go over it with me. This new Dr said my one hormone level was slightly higher than the other (and I can't for the life of me remember which one she said), and that could be reason i'm not ovulating. I didn't have the shot thing though, just a couple vials of blood drawn.
That's crazy! Is there a generic you could take that would be cheaper or is is just not covered because it is a fertility type drug?
It's not covered because it's considered a fertility drug. Before I renew this prescription, I am definitely going to ask my doctor if there's something else I can take instead that's covered by my insurance or that's at least cheaper. I did the math last night...even if I get a BFP this cycle, just this medication would cost us $664 to get through 1st tri. If I don't get a BFP this cycle...that number just keeps going up every month!
