dumb question - planting seeds?
When we bought our house a few months ago, my mom gave me a bunch of seed packets for different flowers - daisies, black-eyed susans, zinnias, etc.. We're thinking of trying to get some stuff planted this Fall (we're in Oklahoma), and this is really dumb but I've never planted seeds before, just actual plants. Is it hard? Will I see something in the relatively near future to at least tell me if it "worked"? Or should I just go buy some plants? thanks!
Re: dumb question - planting seeds?
You could probably still plant the black-eyed susans, but it is too late for zinnias and most daisies.
The packet should say what the germination period is (i.e., how long until they start to sprout) to give you an idea when to start expecting stuff when you do plant them.
If you want plants this season, at this point you should probably just buy plants instead of seeds. Look for ones marked "perennial" so that they will come back next year. Annuals (like zinnias) grow one season and then are done.
