TTC/PCP Wednesday

Sorry I've been a bit of a post whore lately... I think I need a distraction so I'm not thinking about my damn cycle all the time! Lol. So any news for anyone on the TTC/PCP front?

Blue & Sam,
How did everything go with your first attempts?

Kennedy & Kendyl,
How are those babies growing?

I have a little story from today, but otherwise we're just plugging along and entering our first official tww! I feel like this is going to be a long two weeks.

So my story:
I had a dermatologist appointment today. She knows that Trav and I are TTC, since we had to switch up all the medicines I was using to pregnancy safe ones (just in case). We're discussing any changes since my last visit, and she asks... "so, are you almost pregnant?"

Uh, yeah lady... right on the cusp?

I just stared at her for a minute while she paused, and goes "that was the dumbest question I've ever asked someone." Lol, I don't even know what almost pregnant would look like.

Anyway, just something I found amusing. Your turns!

Re: TTC/PCP Wednesday

  • No updates here, just focusing on ourselves, and enjoying married life. We've starting looking into foster parenting classes, and it's possible we will start taking the classes after the new year. :-) That is always exciting.

    Other than that no news?

CTBride, how is yours and A's fostering coming along?

  • we are waiting for our first try for iui which will prob.  happen next week.  I am going to start testing for ovulation tomorrow and am being crazy and doing both the digital and analog types of opk just so we don't miss it again.  Last month the sperm had not even landed in MA (I think I hadn't even ordered them yet) when I ovulated so we couldn't try then.  I am getting nervous and S is getting very excited.  She asks every day when I will start testing.  All we need to do is wait a few more days until the first iui.  I can not even imagine how crazy I will be for the tww.  Hope you are dealing well meegs and blue.

too funny meegs if you can let me know what almost pregnant is I would love it.

I'm already a little antsy, but at least I have a distraction with the walk coming up this weekend. After that... well, I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of trouble waiting for the last week to end!!

  • I am so ready - soooooo ready. As i've mentioned, many of our friends (4 to be exact) have had babies recently and its killing me.  I try to remind myself that they are all older, more years married, ect ect ect but when i comes down to it, all those things don't really matter b/c we truly are in a good place right now.  Andrea is also feeling ready but is nervous about our financial security.  So, we made a deal that once i had $X saved up in a "family fund", we could start TTC.  At least now I have a set goal.  if we're stringent w/ spending, i think we can make it there by Feb. i really really want an '09 baby but obviously these things are not completely in my control.

Oh, and good news: windows have been ordered! Going in by the end of the month! This was our biggest PCP item so i'm thrilled we're almost there.

Things have slowed on the foster front since we decided to TTC before fostering - so, we've reviewed all paperwork and are technically signed up for a GLBT Foster support group but we havent begun classes or actually attended said support group.  I think we'll probably begin classes after the holidays but we'll play it by ear.  We're also contemplating finishing the basement before taking in a foster child (so my office will move down there and the 2cd guest room can be converted back to a bedroom) - its not a necessity, but we've had contracters over to quote prices and its something we're considering.

  • It seems like everyone around me is pregnant and while I am happy for them, it makes me sad.  I know that seems selfish, but it is honest.  I just want children so much.  Working at a Parent's magazine does not help at all!

But at least I get to entertain myself with the niece and nephews...

I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • omg i'm going crazy!!!!! i posted an update on last week's edition of ttc/pcp wednesday (and my blog of course), but i don't know if anyone saw it, so: everything went great at the ultrasound last wednesday, we set the swimmers on their course on friday the 10th, and on the 24th we test. we just want to know one way or the other. she's having all these signs that could be good news, or they could just be an impending period or after effects of the clomid or who knows what else. i am so impatient. have i mentioned that before? it's true. i think i'm going to burst, and we still have over a week before we can test. aaahhhhhh!!!!!

i'm just trying to think about this being my second and last day of work this week and our four-day weekend away in the hills!

positive baby vibes to meegs, and everyone else. ssg, hope you get your positive opk soon!

  • Well, we are not planning to TTC/TTA (adopt) for two years. Ugh. That sounds like a long time when I say it, but I know it will go by quickly. I try to think of all the things we will be able to do together as a couple, and how we will be in a better position financially. But when we are out doing things, sometimes I just think "oh, this would be so nice to do with a kid..."

Anyway, on the positive front, Lori FINALLY got reimbursed for a small percentage of her grad tuition (9 credits). According to her teaching contract, she is supposed to be reimbursed every semester (since 2005) but the school district ran out of money and she hasn't been. She will be reimbursed for 9 credits on Friday. We are hoping to use that money to move ahead (hopefully split our boiler---and not have to pay for the heat of the half of the duplex we rent out) The money she is getting only covers just more than half of the estimate, but we would save money every month. What would Suze Orman say? I wish I could call her now.

The school district is debating SS partner benefits... they just granted them for NON-union employees (teachers ARE unionized). Union benefits MAY come soon. I feel like a girl about to get engaged---- if they come, that will help our pre-and post-baby budgets TREMENDOUSLY!

Kendyl? How is that little swimmer doing?

Foster to Adopt Licensure Process. Expect to be licensed in Sept or Oct. Looking for infant and older sibling.
  • Oooooh, I am so excited for the 2wwers! I hope you have great news to share soon. I'm keeping crossed fingers for you.

Thanks for asking about me! Kiddo and I seem to be doing great. Except for some wicked heartburn, I feel pretty much like my old self and it's such a welcome change. I'm having tons of movement - mostly big, rolling movement rather than precise kicks, it seems. We have our "big u/s" one week from today and we're still determined to avoid finding out the sex if we can help it! I looked at daycare #3 yesterday and it was GREAT so we're looking for a time M can go check it out, which is hard because she just started a new job so she can't really take much time off between 9 and 5. Hopefully my u/s won't go too late (she's leaving work early to attend) and we can sneak in there afterward before all the babies go home for the night. My parents arrive tomorrow night for a visit and I'm excited to do some baby prep stuff with my mom. I've only seen her once since I got pregnant and I wasn't even quite 10 weeks so I look pretty different now! All in all, no complaints here.

Again, fingers crossed for those counting down the days until testing, and big hugs to those who have longer waits ahead of them - I hope time passes quickly for you!
