I just want to SCREAM!

I have spent the last two weeks subbing for a school because the regular teacher had to leave for surgery. They kept telling me how I was such a savior because they didn't think they would find a good teacher in time. They originally planned to hire someone just as an assistant and have the program coordinator actually teach, but after the first day they said they were impressed and felt comfortable leaving me by myself. The second week, they asked me to teach a lesson in another grade because they were considering me for a position that was about to open up. They observed me, gave me feedback, and told me it was between me and one other candidate. They said they would decide by Monday or Wednesday and give me a call.

Fast forward to today. I had not heard from them, so I sent an email this morning. I got an email back saying they had already placed a candidate in the position.

AAARGH! I can understand them not hiring me. There are a lot of great teachers looking for jobs right now and the other person probably had more experience. But I was there every day for two weeks, staying late each night to plan, attending faculty meetings, having observers walk in and out of my class, and constantly being told how much they love me and are interested in me for the open position. They were down to just me and one other candidate. Yeah, I'm upset that I didn't get the job, but my real gripe is that they didn't even have the decency to call me to tell me I didn't get the job. I have holiday flights to book, I am starting school TONIGHT for my special ed endorsement... so many things I've been putting on hold while waiting to hear about this job. I'm just so frustrated.

Ugh. Okay, end rant.
