I posted on the getting PG board, but wanted to ask here as well.
Would you donate your eggs to a friend?
Would you donate your eggs and your DH's sperm?
Would you ask a friend to donate their eggs and/or sperm to you?
Re: Eggs
No to all three. I don't see anything wrong with people doing any one of those, but they are NMS.
It may be flamefull, but DH and I have already decided that if we have troubles getting pregnant (when we eventually start trying) then he's just getting snipped and we'll foster/adopt.
My thoughts exactly. And I agree 100% that if we couldn't get pregnant naturally, then we would adopt. I'd rather invest my money into a sure thing then trying something like IVF that for 1 might not even take, and 2 who says you'll STAY pregnant.
A potential yes to the first one, but it would really depend on the friend and the situation.
No to the second one. That would be just weird. It would essentially be like DH and I giving a friend one of our kids. I would encourage adoption.
No to the third one as well. If we aren't able to get pregnant, we've already decided to adopt.
No to all of them. DH and I are dealing with infertility right now and are considering using a donor eggs. However, I would feel very uncomfortable using the eggs/sperm of someone I know, so it would remain completely anonymous.
It's a tough question to answer. Unless you are actually diagnosed with infertility, you never know what you will/will not do. It's easy to speculate, but you never really know until the time comes to make that decision.
