Wedding album

Has anyone made their own album?  What did you use?  I used Shutterfly to make one for my parents and it was ok I'm just wondering if there is something better out there.

Re: Wedding album

  • You are way more on top of things than I am. I have used Shutterfly for other stuff and have been happy with them. I think some of the other girls said that Kodak Gallery was the best, but I know Snapfish also does albums as well.

  • I just finished making one on Shutterfly.  I just told myself that in order to have an album any time soon, I wasn't going to stress about creating the most perfect album from the most perfect site...I can be OCD like that, if I let myself.  This was easy (and affordable!).

I have also used Blurb and thought that it turned out nice.  I haven't ordered the Shutterfly album yet, so I can't compare.  Hippie ordered one from Shutterfly recently, maybe she has some insight?

  • Somerset and Adoramapix both offer flushmount albums if that's something you're interested in. The pages aren't super thick like what you would get in a $500 album, but it's a *lot* nicer than Shutterfly/Kodak, etc.
  • I used Shutterfly to make books for the parents, but for our album I want to use Mpix. They do flush-mount, leather-bound albums. I've never ordered one but have ordered other things through Mpix and their quality is fantastic.

Shutterfly offers photo books, not albums -- and I'm sure that Snapfish/Kodak also only offer books. There is a big difference (as I'm assuming you've seen after receiving your photo book). But obviously the photo books are a lot cheaper.

  • I have used shutterfly to make photo books in the past, they turn out great and that is what I plan on using for our parent's books we are giving them for Christmas. The quality is good but if you are looking for something more 'professional looking'...I found a great blog that compares many different companies and their products, prices, quality, etc. Check it out and see what you think.

I am using Picaboo to make my honeymoon album because we have so many great scenery photos and they make flushmount, leather bound for around $140 but they are always running specials. Right now they have a buy one get one free special if you order your book by November. My plan was to see the quality after I order this and maybe use it for my wedding album.

I have not completed my album yet so I can't say if I like it or not but the program is easy to use and the best part is, you only have to be connected to the internet to unload your pictures and they you just save all the photos and the book to your desktop and upload it when you are ready to order.

They have a coupon on their website now for 40% off a photobook of 40 pages or more.

    Good luck!!!

  • I am a graphic designer and did our guest book with Blurb, but I didn't feel like putting all the work into designing another book. I thought the quality was really nice.  So... I'm using Picaboo for our wedding album. The only negative about it is it seems to bog down my iMac at times... or I just have zero patience. But, I do like all the layout choices they give you.
