Orgy ladies

I got this from a blog- thought you might like to read it:) To tell you the truth when I think about it, i changed my diet and thats when it happened.

When you?re trying for a baby, you really try to eat as healthy as possible (expect for those bad days when you receive your big fat negatives). According to Cindy Bailey author of The Fertile Kitchen, you should do some of the following when trying to conceive.

1. Limit your seafood. Sure we all like some delicious sushi once and awhile, but Cindy says too much mercury in your diet can affect your fertility, and can actually stay in your system for six months or longer! If something smells fishy in your diet, it probably is! (I dont like fish to begin with)

2. Limit your consumption of processed foods and reduce or eliminate caffeine and alcohol in your diet. ( I never drank a lot of caffeine or alcohol)
3. Try eating an all-organic diet of fruits, vegetables and lean protein to optimize fertility. ( i went organic)

4. Say goodbye to sugar. We know that giving up your sweet treats is a difficult task (especially around period time!) but according to Cindy, ?start cooking with healthy sweet alternatives such as stevia or honey, or munch on some naturally sweet fruits if you have a sweet craving. ( took sugar out completly)

5. Don?t forget about the daddy! It takes two to tango (and make this baby). To improve sperm count, he should be eating foods with B12 (like lean beef), zinc (whole grains) and vitamin C (like oranges). Sounds like a great diet to us! (when i started eating Whole Grains, so did he:) )

  • J -- side note -  how psyched are we that you went from "I'm not sure how i feel about this surprise just yet" to having an "I kicked PCOS's fertility butt" badge and a ticker!

That's awesome!  Hope you're feeling great.

Ummm yeah.. so my 5+ years of IF are because I didn't follow this. Next your going to tell me to " Just relax" Or it's in gods ands and he will tell me when my body will allow me to have children.

With someone who struggled with PCOS, i'm hoping you have alittle more common sense to post this on a board of people who have been struggling alot longer than you were "opps" trying.

I'm not trying to sound bitter but put yourself in alot of our shoes. Me 5+ years of fertility treatments, Tshott who was told IVF was the only way to go, Geo who lost a baby already, and ( maybe) trying again.

  • Thanks for sharing this.

I agree with Kathy - love your new ticker/badge and very glad you are excited after not being sure how you felt.

I don't do caffeine to begin with, I don't eat fish and eat very little seafood (scallops, clams, calamari, octopus, and the occasional shrimp).  I don't keep sweets in the house and don't go to the vending machine at work.  The issue is getting more fruits and veggies.  I really need to work on that.

  • If that is all it took then everyone would be pregnant right now.

While a lot of those things are good advice for anyone, they will not necessarily lead to you getting pregnant. Eating whole grains and more fruits and veggies is just plain common sense. As is cutting out caffeine and alcohol.

I love your new siggy :)

    Nothing else to add.....

  • I think it takes more than a change in diet for some to get pregnant.

  • I wasnt saying that this is the only way, it was just a little something I read and realized everything in there helped me. Everyone is different and every TTC story is too!

I am past the denial stage in it yes and it feels great, I passed it on the the DH now and he doesnt want to talk about it. "What is something happens" Really? Are we going to be that negative? I think not!

  • I think we all can agree that those are all good suggestions to living a healthy lifestyle.  So while yes. they might not be the "golden ticket" per se, they certainly do not hurt in getting healthy and starting good habits.

This. I dont think she posted this as a "if you do this you'll get pregnant" article. I think she posted it as a "hey something to think about, that doesn't hurt to better us all, and may help in some way." and we all can definitely benefit from better eating habits, and if you start before you get pregnant, you'll probably be more likely to keep the habits throughout your pregnancy.

    My overly happy baby girl!
