I love my cats, but...

this week they are trying my patience!

The long-haired one (pictured in my signature) has had some *ahem* intestinal issues that have led to three baths in a week and finally to a trimming of her butt fur (she screams and twists and claws/bites through all of these).

Last night DH went to bed before me and said in passing "I smell cat poo in the kitchen but can't figure out where it's coming from." When I go to the kitchen an hour later, I find the very obvious source of the smell--I think he just didn't want to clean it up himself.

Today I woke up to two cat puke stains on the carpet, so I drag out the cleaners even though I'm late for work. Now I'm hurrying to get dressed and make the bed...which is when I found that some cat drug their dirty butt across my brand-new light blue quilt in the middle of the night last night. Now I'm really late for work, but I have to drag the quilt to the bathroom and scrub it...

I guess this is the universe's way of preparing me for life with kids?? That's the only somewhat positive spin I can put on this week's adventures!

Re: I love my cats, but...

  • Oh the joys of having cats!

And just as an FYI - we use the Resolve Pet carpet cleaner and a scrub brush for our carpets and bed stuff when we need to and it works like a dream! In case you were looking for a cleaner for all that excitement Smile

  • We must share the same cats!! My cats do this stuff ALL. THE. TIME!! You are a better person than me though because it's led to my hating cats now! I swear I love my cats, but when they die (hopefully a very long time from now!!) I will never get another cat! Plus I don't think it helps that our cats are actually DH's cats that he got before he and I got together and I still get stuck cleaning up their messes even though*my* dog's messes are for me to clean up in his mind.

  • I'm pretty convinced that these kinds of things are a cat's job to drive their owner's crazy.  Truthfully, they own us, don't they?!  hehe  Our cat is good (now at least) about not making any real messes, but if she would have a pee mess somewhere, I almost always got stuck cleaning that up.  If she throws up, I won't touch it.  It makes me gag the whole time.  H thinks that the best part about making me clean it up, but one of these times I'm going to get sick on him for it!

  • Ewww!  My dogs are getting old and one of them has been puking here and there.   I think I have it figured out but still, blech!  And Dh will not clean up puke or poop-lovely.  Both also have anal gland issues.  My vet charges $18 each every time they go in for a "cleaning".  I always remind them that for two mutts, they sure are expensive!

  • Good to know mine aren't the only ones being bad... it's tough when all 5 of them gang up on me at once! I definitely won't have this many pets at a time ever again (we have a Brady Bunch family of my 3 cats plus DH's 2, so we never set out to have 5 in the first place!).

I know several people who have 10+ cats (these are people who work in rescue groups) and I don't know how they do it!!

  • I completely jinxed myself yest.  I went home and the cat threw up twice.  On the carpet in the sitting room.  Grrr!  And of course H was working all night!  It was gross.  I wish she could learn to run to the plethora of hardwood floors instead.  Smile

  • When we got home last night/this morning I had to clean up a hair ball and vomit on the bedroom carpet.  Ugh!  I feel like I clean up cat vomit every day!

And I was closed in the bathroom with my long hair cat Thursday night trying to clean her rear end!

I thought I was the only one dealing with this kind of stuff!

  • Holy crap!  5 cats?!  I definitely couldnt handle that.  Kudos to you.
  • Oh boy, I feel for you. Koda has gotten into all kinds of things this past week and eaten stuff he should not have (luckily all has passed). He threw up 3 times the first day of my classes, and it completely freaked me out that maybe he had an obstruction. He's been insane this week. He goes crazy outside (even when leased in our fenced yard). His mouthing has gotten him in time out on numerous occasions this week. I definitely think he's good prep for children in the {far} future. I hope your fur babes improve soon!
