80's Prom
Creative Nesties, get your gloves on!
I'm going to an 80's prom in Raleigh in two weeks.. and I've got some serious work to do on my costume! I have a dress that is similar to this, only less poofy:

I'm not sure I can fit into it though, I'm going to have to try that on. I was thinking about getting one of those 80's wigs, along with some gloves and wearing some booties.. but really, when I think 80's, I think COLOR. My next step is going to be looking for inspiration from The Wedding Singer, but I thought I'd put it out there and see if any of you guys have some good ideas (or better yet, pictures of yourselves in such getups
)

Ditto on the madonna look. Curly hair, lace gloves, cross necklaces, tons of them, layered.
makeup: lots of eyeliner with one major color over the whole lid.
Tons of bracelets. Lace leggings.
I think there will be a lot of people there with neon clothes. I would focus more on black w. metallic accessories.
If y'all laugh....I might have to hurt someone....

I soooo wanted puffy sleeves.. but if that dress fits - I can definitely work a lot of layered stuff in there, that sounds fun!

I think you need to tease your bangs. Like that rooster looking thing we used to do. Make sure to use an entire can of Aqua Net, and stay away from open flames!

I would post pics of mine, but it's somewhere in a box in the attic, if I still have one at all. Pretty much I had the same hairstyle as LB. My dress was similar in style, but strapless and had a peplum at the waist. It was made from iridescent navy blue taffeta. And I had died-to-match shoes from Baker's.

If DH wasn't near the scanner, I would totally scan in the most awesome prom pic EVER.
His date had on a teal poofy mid-calf length dress- poofy sleeves, poofy skirt, maybe some ruching on the bodice. Long straight one length hair, extremely tall bangs.
He had on a matching bowtie and cummerbund. I will refrain from describing his awesome high fashion mullet.
The couple they went with had on similar outfits, but in a different (but coordinating with DH and date!) colour. Her hair was huge, and I mean HUGE!
It's awesome. I like to point and laugh, but he actually thinks I'm jealous. Lol, about him being at prom 20+ years ago... when I was in 3rd grade...
EDIT: I have been corrected- it was "seafoam green", not teal.
