Cincy's great, but...

HOLY COW! South Dakota is amazing!!  H and I are on a 2.5 week road trip out West.  Our first stop is South Dakota and today was our 2nd day here.  I never thought there was much to SD, but it is gorgeous.  I could totally dig living here. I feel like there is so much yet to do and tomorrow is our last day.  Then it's on to Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Utah, before heading home via Colorado.

The only negative so far?!  The lack of connectivity.  Limited cell service and the WiFi at the campground is craptastic...which is why I am on here instead of attempting to log in and work like I am supposed to.  AH well!

  • Sounds like the limited connectivity could be a blessing in disguise...it's hard to call it a vacation if you're logging in to work! I'd love to get to the Dakotas one day, I've heard so many good things about the natural beauty up there!

  • Tee-hee, I'm the opposite.  I always say I want to retire to NYC!  I could go for a couple of weeks out west though.

  • OH! I could never live in a city permanently.  I enjoy walking aroundmy house naked knowing no neighbors can see, love just letting the dogs run free in the yard.  One day, I will own a log home somewhere West...

Definitely hit them up. Can't speak for North Dakota, but Western South is worth it. The Eastern half really isn't too exciting, but 90 is a nice, easy drive. Pretty straight and not very many cars. We easily made it here in 2 days of driving, at that was with potty breaks for the dogs, some stops to fix a few things, and topping out at 75 mph (speed limits out here are 75 so people routinely go 85.) We are staying in Hill City, which is right near Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Needles, and Custer State Park. Each is 15 min away or less. You can hit the Badlands on the way in and that's most of the maina rea attractions.  There's also Devil's Tower just over the border into Montana.
