Apparently long dist G'parents don't count
Re: Apparently long dist G'parents don't count
Sometimes, I get pissed that God took the wrong parent/grandparent.

Dear! ha!
What an idiot. I seriously hate the bump.

There's a lot of early 20s, self-entitled brats over there.
All the "dear" and "sweetheart" shiit was giving me flashbacks to Stefibeth/Quadboob.

I keep wishing my MIL would move further away before we have kids. After seeing how she spoils our dog, I'm not sure a 3 hour drive is enough distance between us.
I wouldn't mind having my mom closer though but I wouldn't throw a temper tantrum if she decided to retire and move out of state.
I bet her FUPA's name is Shane, like the gunslinger/drifter of literature.--HappyTummy
Hey my MIL played into our decision

She lives in England though, right? Mine lives 7 hours away! By CAR! :P

I shudder at that thought that my MIL would want to move closer. But maybe she won't want to since when we got married she told my H that she was too young to be a grandma.
We aren't even trying yet (you know since we need her to be ready and all) and B and I have already discussed the boundaries we will be setting when it's time for babies.
I consider the fact that my parents and in-laws are 7-8 hours away kind of a blessing. Yeah, it sucks that we won't get free babysitting and day care, but the ability to control the crazy heavily outweighs that.
I wonder why she refers to her in laws as her husband's "parents" and "family" in quotes. If they're so bad they get quotes, you'd think she wouldn't mind them moving. I just can't get over the fact that she expects other people to put off their plans to move to have a relationship with her children. I had long distance grandparents for my entire life (saw them a few times a year) and our relationship is great. I am certainly not "grandparentless" and the title kind of pisses me off.
The nerve!

I think that's because he's adopted. So they aren't his "real parents," don't you know?

I only see M's little boys about every three weeks.
Guess that's why the older one calls me E instead of Grandma.
But he does say "I love you E"
I knew I should have moved up there sooner!
My H calls his grandmother by her first name. Perhaps she was too young to be a grandma too.
aw, thanks Irish.
They wanted him to call me Grandee but he's stuck on the Grand part.
Her father in law wanted to be called Grampy but somehow that came out Geeta, so we all call him Geeta too. I think the names are determined by the first grandchild. Even if they are 200 miles away
No Lanie-face for me on that one. I feel that sentiment every day about my mother/father. But, the rest of the whine-fest is ridiculous.
My mom's parents lived in florida when I grew up. I liked them much better to my father's parents 15 min away in NJ. It's all in what you make of the relationship.
