Okay, so I really hate technology sometimes. My photographers gave us a DVD with all of the pictures they took on it so we could take it and get them printed anywhere we wanted. Cool idea... in theory. The DVD is being a real PITA to copy pictures to our computer. Like, it's freezing every time we try to drag pictures over from the DVD to our computer and I don't know what the hell to do about it. I've tried restarting our computer multiple times and closed out of all programs. It's just not working. So basically, unless we can get these pics copied from the DVD to our computer, we can't order any of the pictures. Our photographers do print the pictures if we want them to, but since they're professionals and not somewhere like mpix or shutterfly, they cost about 2x the price. We're planning on ordering bigger prints through our photogs, but don't want to spend the extra money for 4x6s that I'm just going to cut up to put into our scrapbook. Ugh! Vent over.
Re: Technology Impaired...
You can upload to mpix straight from your DVD. When you browse for pics when uploading to mpix, just navigate to my computer and you'll see the folder with the DVD images. I don't know if you've ordered from mpix before, but the quality is noticeably better than shutterfly, walgreens, etc. When I do instant print photos at walgreens, the color is always off and even shutterfly pics are often pixelated. I ordered a few 11x14s from mpix last year and the quality is amazing. I ordered pictures when they were closed for Christmas holiday and the pictures still arrived about two days later.
I do recommend using a high speed internet connection for uploading to mpix or anywhere. The pro photos are very large files and take a long time to upload.
Yeah, I tried going straight from the DVD, but it froze every time. Turns out that my Windows 7 is being screwy. Had to restart the computer, like, 6-7 times before it would copy from the DVD to a picture folder w/out freezing. Ugh. But that's good to know about mpix and picture quality. Our photographer recommended them to us. I don't know if it's the site or if it's my computer right now, but it's taken almost a day to upload our pics from the picture folder on our computer to my mpix account. Is it usually that slow to upload?
