60km done!

Whew...what a weekend. We walked 32km on Saturday and then 28km yesterday. It was an emotional walk with lots of supporters along the route. The best was the neighbourhoods with signs, decorations, food and drinks for us. The best houses had beer shots and champagne shots. Oh and on Sunday morning we walked through an italian neighbourhood. OMG the baked goods were delicious.

I have some killer blisters on the back of my heels but they just went numb after awhile and didn't prevent me from walking the entire 60km.

I had so much fun and was so moved by the whole thing that I signed up to do it again next year!

  • Glad you made it through ok. How did the pumping work out?
  • I pumped at lunch and just put my nursing cover over me and pumped away while everyone else in my team ate. It was weird but necessary.
  • Congratulations!  Quite an accomplishment!  I did a 60 mile walk for breast cancer a number of years ago - not fun, but definitely worthwhile.

  • The 60 mile walk is over 3 days right? Do they split it evenly or is there more on the Sat and Sun?
  • Yeah, it was three days.  There was more on the first two days than the third.  I don't remember it too well because I did it in 2001.  What I do remember is that it was freakin' freezing (it was postponed from early October until early November after Sept. 11th, and the weather was significantly worse in November).
