So I was gonna wait til Wednesday, but I had to share this crazy FB experience:
Apparently, a distant cousin by marriage was offended because she thought I didn't respond to her FB "Happy Birthday" wish ,de-friend me! That was so stupid, it was comical. As it turned out, I did respond to her wish; it was included in a comment with three others, and she just needed to expand the comment to see it, which she didn't. Any way, I got this message about 4pm yesterday:
"Stacy :-) I wished you happy birthday today on facebook. I saw that you responded to all your other friends but did not respond to me. I know that you don't know me that well, but you could have at least said thank you. So I have decided to remove you from my FB friend list. I wish you well, P--"
On so many levels: WTF?!?
Where to even begin? Here is how I responded:
"P--. Thank you for your well wishes. Just so you know, I did thank you for your wish - it was included in a comment where I also responded to three other people. You would have seen it if you had expanded the message. It's still there if you care to look. But in any event, it is unfortunate that you were so sensitive over somthing like this. I'm not a fan of drama, so perhaps it is for the best that you removed me from your list. Thank you again, and take care."
What I really wanted to say was "Seriously? Are freakin' kidding me? On my birthday??!" But, as she is family (however distant) I chose to take the high road. But man - I told my Mom about it, and we both agreed that is unreal how people choose to unload their various versions of crazy on others, for the silliest things.
This was a second cousin through marriage on my step-dad's side from NC. Several family members from NC on his side were at my wedding, and she friended me during our wedding process. I didn't know her that well, true, but I remember thinking how cool it was that our wedding was bringing us into contact with relatives that I only saw every once in a blue moon. But this chick obviously has issues.
Even if I hadn't gotten around to "thanking" her yet, my goodness - she left the birthday wish around 1:30pm, and was unloading crazy on me about 4pm! While I was busy celebrating my birthday!!
What a nut! Good riddance :-) Had to share, ladies!!
Re: WTF!! FB Birthday edition...
You'll have to let us know what she responds (if at all) to your message I'm curious!
what a total nutcase!!!!!!
Whoa! That was a bit unnecessary on her part! Sounds to me like your distant cousin may be related to Cindy's family!! I would check with Cindy if you need more advice :P
Your response was perfect though!

She did reply back - I didn't include that part! Her reply was:
"Ok - I didn't see it at first. But you shouldn't assume things about me like I'm overly sensitive or a drama queen. I just find that it's best to remove people from my life when I see that we don't gel".
At that point, I'm just finishing dinner with H. I told him about the whole strange encounter, to which he replied "Isn't it your birthday all day? And didn't you post a comment thanking all of your friends/family for their thoughts? She's crazy. Don't even bother to respond."
He was right, of course. But I had to respond - I couldn't help myself:
"P--, It's good that you saw the comment. I thought it odd that you would choose to bring up something like this anyway on my birthday. It's not as though I sat by the computer waiting to respond to messages today. I responded as I had time, since I was after all, enjoying my birthday. But anyway, as I said, it's not that important. Take care, and please don't attempt to contact me again. Thank you."
I then changed my privacy settings so that only "friends" could send me messages, so that I didn't have to deal with this kook again. Side note - her daughter is also on my FB friend list, and we have exchanged very positive comments in the past. I'm curious to see what she does...lol. Sheesh!!
Holy wackjob! Since this isn't someone you're close to, you were right to just let her go...
TTC #1 since 4/10, Dx: MFI IVF planned for April/May
So besides this little drama queen and her issues, did you have a wonderful b-day?
Good Lord! That woman is the conductor of the crazy train! Good thing she de-friended you so you didn't have to do it. I say good riddance!
I'm glad you were able to enjoy your birthday.
