Monday Randoms

How was everyone's weekend?

I'm back to work today after being off a week and am already looking forward to 5.  Had a pretty good week off :)

Re: Monday Randoms

  • Good to hear you had a good vacation.

I had a great time Friday at the Celebration on the Grand party our friend held. I think that those fireworks are better than the ones for the 4th.

Our 1st wedding Anniversary is this coming Sunday. DH wants to take all 3 of us to Chicago for the weekend. I'm not sure how I feel about it.

  • It's my second annivesary today!

We aren't really doing anything special...saving money by not buying gifts. So probably just dinner.  It's funny how the first anniversary was kinda a big deal and now its like "eh".

  • Why can't people just take no for an answer? I have a friend who badgers me CONSTANTLY about doing things. We are on a super tight budget with me not working right now. I'm sorry that puts a kink in her plans, but I don't want to spend tons of money at the zoo. Yes, it's ONLY $12, but I'd rather put that $12 toward something useful. Plus, we didn't budget for that money to be spent on the zoo when we have a big list of other things we want to do. My child won't miss out by not going to the zoo twice in one summer. Stop making me feel bad b/c I can't take that money out to go to the zoo. Sheesh.

  • My weekend was fantastic. I'm just not at all ready to be back at work today.
  • I have a problem.  I can't stop looking at houses online.  I really need to stop!

    Happy Anniversary Adrea!

    I hate those types.
  • Mine was kind of a lazy weekend. Friday night I did laundry. Saturday we had a late breakfast and then I took a 5 hour nap. Sunday I cleaned and did a PR party which was pretty decent. Didnt want to get up this morning.

A gripe. Someone keeps getting into a friends facebook acct and deleting me and some of his other friends and deactivating his acct. We think it's his ex but we aren't sure. So I told him to change his password on facebook and to change his password on his email too.

My best friend is somewhat like that.  I'm being laid off towards the end of the year, so I"m starting to change my budget now.

She wanted to go out to eat.  I offered to cook a home-cooked meal.  This girl can't cook a dinner to save herself, so I thought she and her husband would like something home-made.

She couldn't understand that Chili's isn't in my budget.

  • Happy Anniversary!

I'm excited to get back to my classes today. It's amazing how much I'm enjoying learning and being in classes. It's like my mind cannot soak up enough knowledge!

I'm having some pretty serious issues with my best friend, and it's really weighing heavy on me right now. I'm able to push it to the side during classes, because I need the focus on my classes, but when I'm home? Not so much.

  • Good Morning!

I spent 22 hours of Saturday either in an airport or an airplane. It was a long day to say the least.

Sunday was spent doing chores and snuggling with my pups.  We missed them a ton.  I also decided I'm a fan of coming home from vacation one day early - it was nice to settle in and not come to work today exhausted and stressed about everything that needed doing back home.

    Have I missed much here?

YAY! Welcome back! How was the trip, other than the crazy long day of travel on Saturday? Were you happy with your half-marathon time?

It was amazing.  It was a perfect mix of doing stuff and relaxing.  We slept in, we hiked, we ran, we drank Guinness, we chatted with locals, we watched Gaelic sports, we ate potatoes everyday and we had a gay ol' time.  We are lame and missed our dogs, especially because Toby had the surgery while we were gone.

The marathon/half-marathon course was crazy hilly, so I wasn't worried about time - I just took in the scenery and chatted with other runners.  Andy did great running his first marathon considering the hills (no exageration, one incline extended for 4 miles another steeper one was about 1.5 miles up).  We actually plan on running the GR event (Andy the marathon again, me the half) and trying more for a PR.

  • The thought of running up a 4-mile long hill pretty much makes me want to die.

How is Toby-head? I would totally be the distraught pet owner if one of our animals had to have surgery while we were out of the country, so I understand.

Sounds like it was an awesome trip!

  • I wish when you hit reply you could see all the posts that are there. Let's see if I remember everything.

    1) Happy Annverisary to Deeder and Adrea. Deeder, I would not want to take a family trip. Is there anyone that can watch the SS and then do something special with him later. I think all parents need some kind of break at some point.

    2) Lvila, I would be annoyed with your friend. At Mere's age, going to the zoo is all about the adults and getting cute pictures, plus maybe the few animals that will get her attention here and there. Once is enough a summer. There are plenty of free activities that are just as fun, esp when the weather is nice like this.

    3) JulieD, that sounds like an amazing trip.  Glad to hear that Toby is doing well.

And, I know I'm forgetting something.

Toby is okay.  He can't move much, has a hard time getting up and is just now getting his appetite back.  He's definitely not completely his normal self - he's usually full of smiles and tail wags, but now his tail wags less and he wears his serious face (seen in siggy) more often.  That might just be the medication.  We had to make a ramp out our front door for him and baby gate the stairs since he's not supposed to use them.  It'll be a long recovery, I won't be allowed to walk him for months which is hard on both of us - I have to sneak Gordie out of the house now otherwise Toby gets riled up thinking he's going for a walk.  I seriously almost cried one day before we left because he saw me get the leash, got excited but then I left w/just Gordie and turned back to see Toby looking out the front window with his sad face.

We have our follow-up appt. to get the stitches out tonight so we'll learn more about how he's healing then and how to proceed in his recovery.  Thanks for asking and sorry I just wrote a novel. :-P

Awww...that breaks my heart. Poor pup!

Oh, that would make me cry too. I'm surprised that you can't walk him for months - that seems like forever! But of course, I don't know much about this type of surgery on dogs. I hope Gordie is being gentle with his big bro.

  • We got back from a weekend at the IL's - which makes me INSANE because they are borderline hoarders and having a toddler in their insanely cluttered house sucks.  Poor Ben was getting SO frustrated at being told no every 3 seconds.  I told DH on the way home that I do not want to stay there until they get the junk cleaned up.  Its gross, and unsafe.  God knows that lies under the mountains of stuff.  And apparently WE are the bad parents for not teaching our son not to touch "adult things" and for making our house too babyproof.   They aren't quite bad enough to be on the hoarding shows, but heading there.  And I havent seen their basement in 8 years so who knows now.  /Rant.

Happy anniversary/vacations/good weekends to everyone else, and Julie I hope the pup is feeling better.  I remember dropping Meeko off at MSU for surgery and being a wreck leaving her behind!

  • I just got home from the 2nd interview. Another hour, but split in two between nor of the partners and the CFO and then a trio of girl that work there as well that would train me. Now Im in wait mode. Fingers crossed.

Sounds like a thorough second interview.  Fingers crossed for good news!

  • Happy anniversary, Adrea!

Sorry to hear about the frustrating ILs, Freeburger.  My ILs are incredibly frustrating at times and I can imagine it would be that much worse with a child.

Deeder, did they tell you when you can expect to hear one way or another?  It sounds like it was a good interview!

Juli, I think your trip sounds amazing!!  I'm looking forward to seeing pictures at some point!  However, I do think it would be really hard to be away for something like Toby's surgery/recovery.  What awful timing!  Hope he heals quickly and thoroughly though.  Poor guy.

  • Thanks for asking Kasa. I thought I posted it but I posted it on FB instead. Lol. I should hear something by the end of the week. We're keeping are fingers crossed.
