Do you feed the birds?

Are yours eating like CRAZY? I don't remember them eating so much last year, but I cannot keep up on them! I only fill them half full, so they don't mold or anything, but I'm outside almost every day, filling them again.

Don't get me wrong, both the kitties and I love our sweet birdies, especially our pilated, but I can't believe how much they are eating!

  • Between the birds and the squirrels, we are buying a lot of seed around here too.

  • Yup. I just filled mine yesterday and they are already half empty today! Also, you have a pileated that comes to a feeder?!
  • I don't, but have been meaning to. I wonder if the hot dry summer we had means that there are less seeds and such around.

Yes, we do! I was shocked that first time! When he comes, the other birdies make room, and he eats his fill. It's crazy.

  • Ours have also been going through food like crazy this year.  Last night they continued to eat even though we were sitting on the deck with them - we were at most 6-7' away from the feeder.  I can't believe how often we're refilling the feeder.  I think we get as much entertainment from watching the birds as the cats do, though.
