Best HH spot downtown for a large group?

Sorry I've been MIA lately.  My new position at work is eating my lunch!  Anyways, I am turning 30 at the end of this month and have yet to plan a thing.  My husband has good intentions, but if I leave it up to him, he'll send something out a few hours before :)

I was thinking a downtown HH venue would be fun.  My social friends all live in North Austin, and my work friends live in South Austin.  So, hopefully this will be a good compromise.  I would imagine that around 30 people will show.  Any suggestions on a place downtown that will reserve space for that many people and has good food and drink?

I was thinking 219 West, but not sure the 'vibe' in that place these days.  I went about a year ago and it seemed cool enough, but I don't want anything stuffy or too fancy.  I'm a jeans kinda girl.

 Thanks so much!

  • I used to work on 6th and we would get drinks at the Belmont after work.  Huge patio with tables that are easy to push together.

  • Ginger Man has a great outdoor area.  Also, Cedar Street Courtyard (I don't know if they do HH, but it's a good open area).

It may be a little too south, but Boticelli's on South Congress has a really cool patio where I would put something like that.

I guess I'm only thinking of outdoor spaces for some reason.  Huh...

I'm "meh" on 219West for a group that big.  I was in there Sat night and it was so damn loud.  They have really poor acoustics, mixed w/ loud music.

  • Maybe the balcony of Speakeasy?  They may even take reservations - but I'm not sure if they charge or not.
