Organize my home maintenance

I feel like I've read something about this here.

I want to create a binder that organizes all my home maintenance- when gutters should be cleaned, filters changed, dryer vent cleaning, lawn care, etc.

Any suggestions on the best way to organize this? We are in the process of buying a house, and I'd like to be organized from the start.

Thanks!

Re: Organize my home maintenance

  • We will get a monthly/seasonal/annual checklist from our builder for maintenance that should be completed.  If you google home maintenance checklist you will find similar docs.  I plan on just plugging things into a home maintenance calendar on google calendars so I will get reminders.  That way I can look back and see when things are done and have automatic reminders to do things.  If it is just a list somewhere I will forget to do things.
  • I like having a hard copy check list, so if you Google home maintenance like pp suggested maybe keep it in a binder.  That is what I have, I keep you daily/weekly/monthly clean schedules, home maintenance, etc.  I usually keep the binder right next to my cookbooks so it is in a place that I use regularly.

  • You should check out HomeSpot HQ (www.homespothq.com).  It lets you organize not only maintenance, but also projects and other facts (such as what paint color is the dining room) about your home.
