I got a call for a position I applied for. They didn't list the salary. I really want to ask what the range might be before I go for an interview so I don't waste their time and mine if it's too low.
Is that a total faux pas? Jobs in my field range from $8 an hour to $25, so that makes a big difference.
Re: Asking about salary?
The rule I've always followed in my 19 year career is that you don't bring up salary until 1) the hiring manager mentions it or 2) you receive the job offer and then negociate your salary.

I guess that's true. I'm just feeling super stressed right now and not up for going if it's not even a viable job option. I had that happen twice last month and it was just disappointing to take off work and get my hopes up when it turned out to be something I could afford accepting, know what I mean?
But I need to suck it up and be thankful it's an opportunity! Even if it doesn't work out, it may be a good contact for the future!
