So they do this often on Bob and the showgram.
My current dilemma is as follows:
We didn't get to go to Williamsburg this weekend, due to DH having severe back spasms and heartburn. He suggested maybe we try and make it up the first weekend in October. Well, that weekend is my friend from high school's (we'll call her G) baby shower in Ohio. I haven't officially decided to go to that yet, BUT my matron is also going to be in town also that weekend, and she's living in NJ now, and we were talking about possibly going to Cedar Point (another amusement park). G isn't the most dependable friend, also. She always tells me to call her when I'm in town so we can hang out, and I do, and she never answers or returns my call. My matron told me she'll also be in town for x-mas (which I will be too).
So here's the question.. do I go to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens (which I've been wanting to go to for 20 yrs now.. seriously) with DH or do I be a good friend to someone who's not really a good friend to me and go to G's baby shower and to Cedar Point with my Matron? My mom says go to Busch Gardens...
Anyone else having a dilemma?
Re: What's your dilemma?
Since you'll be there for Christman, then you could see Matron and G then, right? When's the baby due? I would do Busch Gardens now. See G, baby, and matron at Christmas, and take a gift for G and baby.
P.S. DH and I are planning on going that weekend too.
I have no idea when the baby is due. She doesn't really talk to me much. I kind of stopped calling her when I would never get a return call. The only time I really hear from her is when she needs to vent about something. I was thinking about just mailing her a gift certificate and then she can get something she didn't get at the shower but wanted, or diapers.. whichever.
That's cool you can DH are planning on going that weekend too. We would go to Busch Gardens on that Sunday since there's usually less people on Sundays.
Saturdays are always a madhouse.
There's no way I'd travel to Ohio for a baby shower for an OK friend, esp if you'll have a chance to catch up with matron in a few months. Williamsburg, def. It will be a good time of year for it, too.
My dilemma is I don't know WTF we are doing for a co-bachelor/bachelorette party in 2 1/2 weeks. We established having a halloween party at someones house at night, but we have been trying to think up something fun (activity) to do in the afternoon. I suggested a zipline place, a rock climbing place, doing a tae kwon do class (bride & groom are into that), and they've all gotten little interest from co-MOH. She suggested getting a moon bounce for the party, which I do think it would make it a little more special, but I think it will be expensive and stillI I wish we could find something to DO!
Dilemma #1- Go to Williamsburg and see your friend over the holidays.
Dilemma #2- What about going to a pumpkin patch/corn maze type of place during the day? I don't know if that will make it too theme-y, but it could be fun. Also if you are looking for less expensive ideas to make the evening party more special could you do some old-timey games? Bobbing for apples, 3-legged race, potato sack relay, egg toss, pie eating contest, etc.
My dilemma is whether I should take the CPA exam. I just realized that I qualify to sit for the exam in NC (have 150 credit hours with enough in accounting). Here is my current list of pro's/con's.
Pro: Awesome for the career advancement, allow me to work PT when kids are in the picture and still make good money, better to do it now before kids
Cons: Not sure I'm ready to fully commit to it, 30 hours a week of studying + class 2 nights a week, lack of confidence
I feel like it is long term pro's versus short term con's. I also have to admit that I'm afraid of failing. I get that I won't pass all of the tests on the first go-round, but I'm scared of continually failing them.
I know that not having a CPA has really hurt my mom when job hunting. My mom only has an associates, and doesn't want to go back to school in her 50's, so I'd say GO FOR IT! If we ever have a "economic state" as we're having now, it will really help you get ahead. My mom went from being a controller for a office supply store to being an auditor for a bank making about half as much as she was. Even though she has lots of experience and is good at what she does, no CPA = resume in the trash.
Are there any other bridesmaids you could talk to? If you get them to agree with any of your ideas, it might help convince the co-MOH. I like the corn-maze idea.... but then again I come from the corn belt. I thought about doing a pole dancing class for my sister's bachelorette party. Maybe split up for a little bit during the day and come together that night? Though it might be humorous to see the guys try to pole dance.
Elissa, those are some awesome ideas!!! Thanks! I found an awesome corn maze an hour from where we'll be, it looks like it'd be worth the drive.
How many months would it take you to prepare for the exam? I think something like that I'd probably just suck it up and do. But I understand the hesitation, the exam I took in the spring was one that I put off for years. I finally realized that if it was going to happen it all, I had to do it now.Unfort, we did pole dancing for my bachelorette, so that's out. It was a lot of fun, though. I might see what a cousin who is in the wedding thinks, it might be good to get more input.
Well the class I'd take starts in January and ends in June, but you take the 4 tests within that time period as you complete that portion of the class. But only 10% pass all 4 tests on the first round, so after that 6 months then you study for the tests that you failed. You have to pass all 4 tests within 18 months.
I've rode everything at Cedar Point numerous times over.
I grew up 90 minutes away from there and went almost every year since I was tall enough to ride the rides... which was like 3rd grade. I still try to go home once during the season every year... but I have never been to Busch Gardens so there's rides I've never rode. I'm a bit of a Coaster junkie, my ultimate vacation is to go to all the amusement parks across the country.
