feeling awkward initiating sex

I'm not even sure I can explain this well, but I'm going to try. I never used to have a problem initiating sex and for the last 6-8 months or so I have. The only reasons I can think of are

-birth control (seeing doctor about this soon)

- had to live with family for a couple of months and sex was always rushed

Other than that, I have no idea. I just feel awkward and like I don't know what to do. There is also this fear of rejection and I don't know why since he's never rejected me before. I'm not depressed, I think my body is okay and I'm not stressed more than any normal person. I just feel like there is some block or hurdle I don't know how to get over.

I talked with one of my friends about this over the weekend and she feels the same way so at least I'm not alone. I know I don't want to feel this way and I want to initiate and have a better sex life, I'm just stumped on how to get there.

I've tried talking with FI about it and tried explaining that I feel awkward, but without knowing why I feel this way, its hard to explain to him and we both seem to end up more confused and frustrated about it.

So any suggestions, tips or something?

Re: feeling awkward initiating sex

  • There are some things in life that you just have to tackle by just jumping in the deep end, so to speak.  Do this.  Having some wine beforehand would probably help.
  • You dont have to do some grand gesture to let him know youre in the mood. You dont have to set up a 5 course dinner, buy $200 worth of lingerie, light enough candles to burn the house down and bring out a large pole.

Start small. Maybe if its just a flirty message or a light touch in the right place. Or maybe cuddle and let your hands wander. Im sure he will get the picture and take over. Start slow then build up to something grand.

  • I think you are thinking too big.  It doesn't take much to initiate sex with a guy.  Seriously....I got my husband hot just by stretching down to take off a sock......

Think small......play with the back of his neck while you are sitting watching tv and just take a deep sigh.....take your first finger and kinda...draw a little on his knee and thigh......sometimes little things like that is all it takes.

Or....go for it!  Push him down on the bed, jump on top and just start kissing him and don't let him up.  Chances are he will consider that unbelievably hot.

  • I agree with the others, it doesnt take a whole lot to get a guy in the mood. You can maybe let him catch you looking at his package, or kiss him extra long and push yourself up against him. Rub his stomach during a movie, and go a little lower so your at his belt line. Just keep in mind that most guys are always horny, so the slightest thing will give them a big hint. And all of these things are small enough that if he doesnt respond you didnt put yourself way out there.
