how to keep organized in small spaces
hey guys,
last year we moved to a new city into an apartment because we were not sure how long would be here in our new city. Any ways we seem to be having a space issue. We have closets they are full to capacity and it just feels like our stuff is everywhere. Any suggestions to keep our selves organized and in a tight space without tossing everything in the closet?
TIA
Re: how to keep organized in small spaces
Maximize what space you have. My bed has drawers underneath. I installed a second hanging bar in all of the closets so that there would be two levels of hanging space. (But still left space for long items too, of course.) I got clear boxes so I could stack my shoes on the closet shelf.
There's a pic of my closet in my bio, near the bottom (link in siggy).
If you've maximized storage and still have too much stuff, then it's time to purge. I have to say, I've lived in a small condo for the past 6 years and it's been refreshing to live with much less stuff than I used to.

Ikea is your friend, even if you have to make a special trip to find one. Everything is affordable, it's easy to put together and nearly everything is multifunctional (an ottoman that doubles as a filing cabinet for example).
Our last apartment was almost entirely furnished in ikea. We still use the billy bookcases since I haven't found anything as sturdy.

ottoman cubes are great, b/c they are storage, often have a tray under the top that can double as a table top and they can also double as extra seating, if needed, too. we have two from world market (they have regular furniture sales--often 50%) in our loft area and love them--pib/link in siggy.
