I'm obnoxious. Cover letter help.
I've applied for several part time jobs in the past. I've always been looked over for the simple reason that I'm "overqualified." Now, that could be a simple way to get out of it, but they do site the fact that I have a college degree and professional teaching experience. Should I put something in my cover letter about looking for a position that allows me more time [at home], but continues to build my professional side? Obviously it will be worded better. Is that tacky? Bad idea? I'm tired of employers assuming that I couldn't possibly want a part time, entry level job with my education. That's exactly what I want! I don't want something where I bring work home and have to work on it or think about it.
Re: I'm obnoxious. Cover letter help.
RIGHT. How do I say it? Haha. I've gotten that question at several interviews, too. "If you were offered a teaching position, would you take it?"
I was trying to think of a good way to word something like this as well. This sounds good to me and hopefully you can better explain yourself when you get an interview!
Good Luck! Job hunting sucks.
Why couldn't you word it and just say that you are looking for part-time employment - period? I don't think you need to explain it. It is what it is. If they ask you at the interview, then you can elaborate. In the past, just to save everyone time, I have put something along these lines in the cover letter because I honestly didn't want to waste my time or anyone else's.
