I need to vent..I am PISSED off.

This will take a little background so it may get a little long. 

So I have an ex who I dated over 15 years ago who is NOT a nice man.  After beating the sh!t out of me, putting a gun to my head and putting me in the hospital for 2 days, I left him and never looked back.  Yes, charges were pressed.  It was actually the police that pressed charges.  They were afraid if I did that I may not make it out alive next time.  But yes, I was in court, with a victims advocate and a police office by my side and testified agianst him.  It was one of the scariest things I have ever had to do in my life.  Found out in court he had a record of abuse and had done this to 3 other women.  nice.  So he had a concealed weapons permit, that was taken away, his weapons were taken away, he had to go through anger counseling and I had a PPO in place for 1 year.  He called me for the next 2 years taunting me and threatening me and I went to the police every time.  He eventually got charged with terrorizing.  He lives in my town so anytime I would walk intoa restaurant or something and see him there, I would walk right out.  He also works at a company where our truck drivers load OFTEN and has sent "messages" with some of them.  On the lines of you better watch your back type stuff.  One of our drivers went off on him and said I don't know what kind of crap you are pulling , but he told ex that he is psycho and if he wants to play headgames don't involve other people. 

Fast forward to last Fall.  I had not heard from, or talked to the man since we left court that day.  He called me at my work.  First question asked was how did you know where I work.  "K told me"  K is a friend of ours who simply has too much drama in her life and I couldn't do it anymore so I simply slid out of her life.  Ex is dating K's sister.  So anyway, apparently there was a problem with him getting his permit back and he wanted his guns returned so he could start hunting. At this point I tuned out...lol  Apparently he wanted me to sign something stating that he should be able to get his weapons back.  I politely and calmly stated that it wasn't me that pressed charges and he will have to speak to the police department.  They will have his court records and everything that he needs there anyway. 

So..once again...fast forward to yesterday.  my bff and I run into K at the grocery store and she tells us how ex knocked out her 15 year old son.  She had to take DS to the ER and he had a severe concussion and couldn't even see for another day and a half.  I of course ask if she pressed charges.  Yes she did.  The police did nothing.  NOTHING.  She found out he now has 7 assult charges and now he beats up a 15 year old KID and gets NOTHING?!?!?!?  WTF is up with that??!?!?!?! 

I am just LIVID.  Seriously. does he have to KILL someone before they realize he is a DANGEROUS man?!?  I just simply CAN NOT believe the police did NOTHING.  I am so tempted to write a letter to the editor of our newspaper or call the detective in charge of K's sons case and ask what the hell they are thinking!! 

There is really no advice you can give.  I'm mostly venting.  But I just cannot believe that the police in this town let this crap happen.   And btw...this may be deleted later.
