One Pound a Week?

Some girls on the Seattle board have a goal to lose one pound a week, and I think I'm going to try it.  If I can pull it off, that would have me down 10 pounds by Thanksgiving and at my goal weight by Christmas.

Anyone want to join me?

I did manage to go to the gym last night (for the first time in months Embarrassed).  I'm going to try to get back to cooking healthier meals instead of my fall-back grilled whatever with boiled potatoes (which I load with butter), and I'm going to try to cut back on the unhealthy snacks.

Re: One Pound a Week?

  • Id love to join you!  Although, I have a lot more than only 10 lbs to lose!

I went to the grocery yesterday and filled the cart with healthy food (and lots of Healthy Choice meals bc they were on sale, and the nutritionist my Mom saw a while back for her diabetes told her they are the healthiest frozen food option).

  • Yay!  I figure that a "one pound a week" goal doesn't sound scary...it sounds quite reasonable.  It is a little scary to realize that 10 weeks from today is Thanksgiving week!!

A pound a week doesnt sound scary at all, it sounds very attainable.

DH was just couting down the days to Thanksgiving this weekend- I cant believe it!!!

     ETA* When should we start?

  • I'm starting now!  Smile  When I got dressed, I purposely put on a sports bra so that I will hopefully feel more motivated to take Satchel for a jog later today instead of our usual walk.

Cool!  Do you weigh yourself every day (what time of day), or at the end of the week?  Im going to weigh myself today though.

  • I did weigh myself this morning (I always weigh myself first thing in the morning, before I've had anything to eat or drink), but I think I'll do my "official" weigh-ins on Wednesdays.  It's probably completely mental, but it seems like weighing in on a Friday gives me permission to eat more crap over the weekend...but weighing in on Monday is more discouraging since I do tend to eat crap on the weekends.  Stick out tongue  So middle of the week works best for me mentally...no excuses.

  • Sounds good!  I will weigh myself tomorrow then :)
  • good luck! i can gain AND/OR lose up to 3 lbs in one day, so i think i'll pass ;) but it's a great goal to just try to lose 10 lbs in 10 weeks! any small change in eating or exercising habits can make a LARGE difference!
  • i weighed in this morning :)

i'm with steph. i can fluctuate 3 pounds in a day. but i'd like to consistently see the 3 pound range go down by 1 every week. i lost about 10 pounds last fall and then gained it back over the holidays and never quite got it back off. booo

i have jeans I bought last november that I haven't been able to wear in months! so i'll aim for getting back in those :)

This is pretty much how I feel.  My weight can fluctuate pretty quickly, but it's that "max number" I'd like to get down.  I lost 10 pounds earlier this year, but I've slowly put 5 of that back on.  I'd like to get my weight down to the point where putting on 5 pounds doesn't make me unhappy and unable to get into clothes comfortably...and that's where I am right now.
