How are you all doing? I know I've been away for awhile, but I've been SO busy trying to set up/organize our home while working full time. I feel like we've accomplished very little though because we still have a garage full of boxes.
I'm determined to put everything in it's rightful place, not just dump stuff anywhere for the sake of emptying out boxes.
We've found quite a few little treasures in terms of furniture at very reasonable prices. I'll have to post pics when I have a chance. It took some convincing for my DH to trust my "vision". Believe me, it is not "out there", but he kind of just wanted to go for the big pieces right away. Finally, we agreed to go slow and not get into debt for the sake of furnishing the house.
We have really great neighbors on either side of us. Our "large family" neighbors are really nice. They really bless us by cutting the little piece of land that connects both of our homes on a regular basis. Our "aunty and uncle" neighbors are an older retired couple who are so sweet and gentle. They gave us an apple banana and papaya tree about 2 wks ago early one Sat morning. They had gone to the nursery and came home w/ trees for themselves and the 2 for us. We were overwhelmed with their kindness. I've already spotted a Meyer stunted lemon tree that I want to buy. It only grows about 10 feet tall. I LOVE lemons. I'm hoping we can purchase it in the future.
Congrats to all the new mamas and newly married and pregnant nesties!
Lisa (redshoegirl), I'm loving the new pic of your boys (copy; paste). It made me giggle. You need to submit that one for a contest.
Well, I hope everyone is well. I hope to get a chance to check in more often.
Oh, Happy Birthday Alexa!! ![]()
Re: Hi everyone!
I'm so glad you checked in! I've been wondering how things were going with the house. I'm sure your vision for it will turn out beautifully and be totally worth the wait. Good thing YH came around and didn't decide to put you in debt for a gigantic sectional sofa or something!
It sounds like your neighbors are really wonderful. That means so much when you're in a new neighborhood. I can't believe they brought you trees! Fresh lemons and papayas... can I move in with you? I'll mow the rest of the lawn!
I hope everything continues going well for you. And I can't wait to see pictures!!
Sounds like you guys are doing just fine
. I am all about trying to find furniture slowly, rather than buying a big set at once. Good luck with that!
Awesome news about your neighbors! They can really make or break the deal. I wish we could grow apple bananas and papayas here! And lemons are awesome! If DH weren't anti-sour, I'd put them in everything
Thanks for the update, I'm so happy for you guys!!!
I love Hawaii!

wow, what nice neighbors! none of our new neighbors have said anything to us, except "hi" when they see us outside
we're in a cul-de sac, and i'm wondering if i should go over and introduce myself or something - one of my fb friends said something about baking cookies to take over and meet her new neighbors!
and it sounds like you've made great progress unpacking and getting settled! we still have some boxes too, as well as the ones in the garage - not sure those will ever get unpacked at the rate we're going, b/c like you, i need things put away properly when they're unpacked! we haven't bought any new furniture yet...i've had a hard time deciding on anything, so we decided to use what we have right now, and deal with new furniture slowly (very slowly) over time (like, years!)
thanks for checking in! so great to hear that things are going well for you
Hehe thanks!
I was wondering how you guys were doing! It sounds like everything is good - and going slow is a great plan.
