HOW many times do we have to have this conversation? You are completely and fully aware of the fact that I cannot get back to sleep when you a) hit the snooze button 20 times, or b) set your alarm freakishly early but then go back to sleep. I have asked you more times than I can count to only set your alarm early if you are actually going to get up when it goes off.
I understand that you need to get up early for work sometimes, and I don't mind the occasional hour of lost sleep too much if there is some point. But it PISSES ME OFF when your alarm wakes me up 45 minutes early for NO REASON AT ALL and you don't even get out of bed!
And stop saying that you're sorry. If you were sorry, you would stop doing it.
Love,
Your loving but sleep-deprived and cranky wife
Re: Honestly, HH
I used to have this exact same problem with Dave. I was always the person that would set my alarm for the exact time that I needed to get up, and as soon as it went off I would jump out of bed to start the day. I am NOT a morning person, so it was the only way I could do it. I would even put my alarm clock across the room so that I was forced to get up to shut it off.
Then I met Dave. He is a repeat snoozer. At first it drove me craaazy but once I realized that he is the kind of person that needs to wake up gradually, I came to accept it. He is a much more pleasant person in the morning than I am, and so I just kind of had to grin and bear it.
Now we both do the snooze thing. Sometimes for a half hour or more. I am a convert, and I think it is better to ease my way into the day then to be jerked into it.
See, Matt's thing is that he will set his alarm at night with grand visions of getting up early and getting oodles of things done at work before lunch. Then his alarm goes off, and suddenly getting a jump start on the day doesn't seem so crucial. So he either turns it off entirely and goes back to sleep, or he lies there for a while, hitting snooze, debating about whether or not to get up.
ARE YOU GETTING UP OR NOT?!? MAKE UP YOUR MIND!
In extreme examples, he has been known (more than once) to set his alarm for 4:30 in the morning and not get up until 10:00.
Today wasn't that bad, but it still annoys me because he has promised so many times that he'll sleep in the guest room when he's "planning to get up early." And, lo and behold, instead he sets the alarm in our room and sleeps there, anyway. This requires action on his part. It's not an oversight. It's a decision. Grrrr.
That would suck! I only hit it 3 times every morning! I am not that bad! I would be tempted to beat someone if they did that!!! Hugs sorry dear!
I'm a repeat snoozer.... but Adam doesn't wake up when my alarm goes off anyway, so it doesn't bother him. What pisses me off is when HE has to get up early and I'm his alarm clock. He'll say "Wake me up at 5" and then won't get up until 6ish.
I'm with you on the hitting the snooze button situation! HH does that too but he only hits it 2-3 times. He used to have the most obnoxious ring tone for his alarm clock and I asked him to change it and talked about the whole snooze thing. It's rude!!
I like to wake up to some nice, quiet music and turn it off right away then get up after a minute or two. To wake up to the honking, impending doom sound of a loud tone just starts the day all wrong.
I hope your HH stops that soon!
This is us to a T! I never did the snooze thing before but Kevin always did. I started doing it about a year ago. I kinda like being able to say... "oooh I can still sleep for 10 minutes!". And I pretty much ALWAYS have to wake up before Kevin so his alarm doesn't usually bother me cause I'm already gone. And he doesn't ever seem to really notice mine.
