Foodies: vegan general tso "chicken"

from whole foods. anyone ever try it?! oh good gracious, it is the bomb-diggity.

picked some up last night, devoured it and i've been scouring the internets for a recipe ever since. i'm not convinced that the stuff i've found online is the real deal. and since you ladies know all, thought i'd ask here.

yo, if i don't find a way to replicate this deliciousness, i fear i'll relapse to my whole food junkie days. and lord knows that ain't in the budget.

  • OMG, how good is that stuff?  I found it a bit greasy the one time I ordered it, but the taste is really spot on.  No idea how to replicate--I guess they use seitan maybe?  Or just bean curd?

  • I've seen it, but never tried it. Thanks for the rec... maybe I'll try it now.

  • ok, confession: i had to google seitan. Embarrassed but that is definitely what it was. i knew i was not eating tofu. i am on a mission to do more research. thanks bunny!
  • I have an awesome recipe for regular General Tso Chicken at home that rocks the house. Too bad DH hates Chinese food and would complain to no end if I made it.
