BC Question, sorry if TMI

I've been on Yaz now for over a year and really like it.  When my last RX got filled they gave me a generic called Gianvi.  From all the research I could find online it was just released at the beginning of the summer or so and cost wise the generic is WAY cheaper.

Is anyone on Yaz that got switched to the generic Gianvi?  If so, I just wanted to see if you noticed any changes.  This is my 1st pack of it and I feel like its not quite the same.  I sometimes had spotting right at the 2 weeks mark of the old packs but w/ this new one I feel like its been most of the month.  That and my chest has been really sore most of the pack, which I rarely got before.  I feel like I should stick it out and get through at least one more pack to see if regulates, but I was hoping someone else might be having similar concerns.  TIA!

Re: BC Question, sorry if TMI

  • I was on YAZ back in 2006 and yes they did not have a generic back then.  YAZ is so expensive!  But I used to be a patient educator at a clinic so I do know this....  Any generic pill can have different levels than the original pill....so in that case you can def. have spotting/cramping/etc.  It takes about 3 months for your body to adjust to the knew levels, and then your side effects should stop.  If they don't or you keep having problems/don't like how you feel tell your doctor.  On a personal note, I was on a generic pill for my BC and recently had some problems in which they switched me to a new pill. The doctor told me that she did not want me on a generic pill and even wrote on my rx no generics.  I haven't had any problems on my "real" bc since.  Hope that helps. Big Smile
