Has anyone washed a down comforter in front loader washer?

I would really like to wash my down comforter.  Anyone have any experience with this?  I really do not want to take it to the dry cleaners.  Thx.

Re: Has anyone washed a down comforter in front loader washer?

  • Yep, I do it all the time.  Use cold water and then low heat in the dryer.  I take the comforter out of the dryer periodically (during the cycle) and give it a shake to help fluff it back up.
  • Throw a couple (clean) tennis balls in the dryer to help fluff it and keep it from tangling. I wash mine in the top loader, which is a little tricky. The front loader will be no problem.
