What time do you start your day?

I normally don't drive in rush hour traffic. Due to my schedule I usually miss it. This morning was an exception as I had a 9am doctor's appointment. I was amazed that the interstate was at a standstill at 8:45 still, which got me thinking where are all these people going? Do that many people go in to work as late as 9? So I'm curious what time do you usually have to be at work?

Re: What time do you start your day?

  • I get to work around 7:45 but sometimes I make it alittle late because of the traffic on I35. It's just horrible but I don't remember it being like that during summer.

  • I have to be here at 8:00.  I typically get here at 7:30 though.  If I leave my house at 7:10 I am here by 7:30 if I leave at 7:20 I am pushing it to get here by 8:00...  I hate rush hour traffic, I couldn't live where traffic was always terrible.
  • There have been plenty of mornings when I've driven from Lawton to Stillwater in the same morning...and when I do that, I leave Lawton no later than 5:40 to beat rush hour traffic through OKC. I'm usually pulling right into Stillwater at 8:00 if I leave at 5:40...if I leave at or before 5:30, the traffic is way better, so I get into town a little earlier.

When I'm in Stillwater though...traffic is nothing compared to what you OKC girls put up with. I can leave my place at 7:40, drop JJ off at daycare and still be at work before 8.

  • We have flex hours so I could come into work as late as 9:00, but I can't stand to be at work at 6:00 pm.  I would think that a lot of retail people wouldn't go to work until later.
  • I am at work by 7.  I live close to the office though, so if I'm dropping off Connor on the way I leave home by 6:40, if not, 6:45.

Most of my commute is on a side street, with about 2 miles on 240 if I have to stop by daycare though.

  • I have to be at work by 7:45 but I'm usually here by 7:30 which means I leave my house around 6:20. Luckily I'm only on I35 for a few miles, then it's all highway 9 for me. Pure joy haha.
  • I wake up between 6am - 7am depending on how late I went to bed the night before. I get to work by 8am. I only live 10 minutes away from my work, hence why I can get up so late if need be.

  • I noticed that during the summer, I could leave my house at 8:00 and pretty much miss all of the traffic heading downtown on Broadway Ext.  As soon as school started, leaving my house at 8:00 was a nightmare.  I try to make it to work by 8:00, but you never know.  Some days I'm here at 7, other days I'm here at 8:45.
  • I am usually at work by 7:45 unless I am running late. I don't have to be at work until 8 but I like to give myself time unless something beyond my control happens.

  • On the 2 days I work, I try to get there between 7:00-8:00.

On my days home, I usually get up a little before Cooper does (which is usually 8:30-9)

  • I usually get up at 5:45, leave around 5:45 or so and get to work around 7-7:10, depending on how many lights I hit on NW Expressway. If I leave much later than that, I can barely get out of my neighborhood because there's a middle school right there.

We are supposed to be here by 7:30.

  • What time I go to work depends on when I wake up. If I wake up at 4am, I am at work by 5am. If I wake up at 8am, I am at work by 9 or 9:30.

I agree with Snowful, though - what the heck is up with traffic? It has been so awful ever since school started - gag.

  • My schedule changes. M and W this semester I'm at work by 1:30 and leave by 4:45. T and R I'm at work by 11 and leave at 7:30.
  • I have to be in Ada at 7:00, but I have an 1.5 hour commute so I leave at 5:30.  I don't hit any traffic of course.

  • I have to be at work by 7:45, school starts at 8. I wake up at 6:30, and leave my house by 7:15ish. Luckily I only live 5 or 10 minutes from school :)
  • *yuck* I LOATHE traffic. I leave exceptionally early, I should be at school around 8, I leave home at 6:30 or earlier.

  • I have a flexible schedule. I try to make it in by 8. Lately, traffic has been worse and it is more like 8:30.
  • My job is literally being IN my car for 6 hours a day.  My company is based in DC and my boss has a tracking device on my car.  He has to see that my car has left my house by at least 8:30.  Then I just drive around... So I rarely ever hit rush hour traffic.  At the end of the day, I typically get home at about 3 so... I don't even know what 5 o'clock traffic in the city is like.

  • I get up around 6 when M wakes up to nurse.  She goes back to sleep until 7 or 7:30 and V has been getting up between 7:30 and 8 (thank goodness he is done with the 6am business!) but I am usually up at 6 even though I am laying in bed Smile

On the day each week that I work, I usually get there around 9:15 or 9:30

I am curious. What do you do?

  • I'm a commercial real estate photographer.  I literally just drive around and take pictures, then head home early to edit them.  It's a glorious thing...
