Stupid Things You Gotta Do

Thank you notes for interviews. I'm anxious enough about the job and now I have to thank you for the opportunity to ramble like a moron by rambling like a moron on paper.

  • I think that so few people do them these days that it's a good idea either way. Good luck!

      They're not still standard?

  • I say they're standard.  They are for me!

    Good luck with the job!

  • My experience in recruiting for my company is that most do not (I would/do).  Perhaps that's dependent on industry.  Engineers are known for their lack of social skills afterall.

  • Yeah, we got very few after phone/in-person interviews for a position last year. It was weird. I always send them.

  • I've never done this. I had an "oral exam" for a job today and it was pretty much a premliminary interview. Do I need to send a thank you note for that? And to whom do I send it - HR? Each of the 4 people on the panel? To whom it may concern?

    11/11/11 = 5 years. Woah!
  • I'd address it to the people you met with.

  • Yeah, I sent one to each person I met with at both interviews.  And an email to the HR person I did my initial phone screening with (but only cause I didn't know the address).

But, I got the job without them seeing the notes (sent this morning).  They didn't even ask for references.

  • Congrats!!! Are you excited?
    image Ready to rumble.
  • Very; it's a great opportunity. I'm nervous about logistics with the kid since we're still on a wait list for her preschool, but I'm beyond ready to go back to work.

  • I ALWAYS sent them.  Good luck!  I'd usually send the same day if I could.
