Ok ladies, it's Flame Free Friday, you know the drill...
Re: FFF
I'm really sad that this board has become so slow. Lots of ladies have been mostly MIA, and the ones of us that have stuck it out seem to run out of things to talk about, hah.
This is more of a vent, but here goes.
I really hate our neighbors. They have a golden lab, and it is forever barking in their backyard, and they never do anything about it. We live on a bend in the street, so the far edge of their backyard basically backs up into the part of our backyard that's close to our house. You can hear the dog barking in any room of our house. He barks whenever we're on our deck and whenever he can see us moving within our house. The few times we've mentioned it to our neighbor, she makes excuses but never really apologizes for it. She blames it on the dog seeing a stray cat, or the "bad breeding." No honey, it's called disciplining your dog. You've been out in the backyard with him while he's barking his fvcking head off, and done nothing to stop it. Maybe it doesn't bother you, but we've told you that it bothers us, and you don't seem to give a crap. Thanks for being a shittastic neighbor!
That's really crappy. Was your sister home all weekend, and just decided, ah, well, I don't really feel like popping over? I'd be peeved too.
AYFKM?! How selfish and inconsiderate!

She had a massage to give at 2:30 that Sunday afternoon and nothing after that. Our friend was even willing to wait until after she got back from doing that before she left, and she just decided that I should be the one to come over and stay. She stopped answering her phone and everything. Then I felt like a huge a**hole cause I went on a road trip instead of taking care of mom.
That stinks!!! Is the dog outside all of the time?
You've spent a lot time taking care of your mom! You are allowed to take a break now and then just like anyone else. Not answering her phone was an immature move on her part.
He is out almost all the time. And he's one of those dogs that bark at everything. People walking on the sidewalk, passing cars, everything. There have been times I've actually left to take a walk or gone shopping just because it was getting to me. Maybe we should complain to them more often, but I'm general non-confrontational, and the few times we have said something, they apparantly haven't cared. There was one time I was grilling steaks on our deck, the dog barked at me nonstop the entire time, and they were on their deck, watching. AYFKM?? If you SEE your dog barking at your neighbor, shouldn't you do something?
I'd probably try saying something once more, and if nothing changes, call someone on them. Either the HS if he's actually out all of the time and doesn't have shelter/water/whatever, or the cops if it's a noise complaint. It's just ridiculous when people act like that. UGH
The first fix was to put a garbage can wired to the fence in front of a broken slat. Then cinder blocks on the ground to cover the open bottom of the fence, then a string trimmer box shoved into the end to cover a broken slat, and I've wired one of the slats missing a nail to the fence to their dogs can't come through. Happened several times now.
The new fix now is that they've attached lattice on their side of the fence. Just.replace.the.fence. F-ing seriously. An 8ft piece of fence is not expensive. I know b/c I've measured and looked. I also want to tell them - hey, that's a pretty nice brand new car there in your driveway...
Crimson's story reminds me of some stories about our neighbors, lol....
Back when that big tree fell in our yards (2 years ago-ish?) it crushed their garage, also crushing part of their chainlink fence, and pulling down the phone line so that it lays across our backyard from our back left corner to their house which is up to our right side.
Since then, they have torn down the old garage and built a MONSTROSITY of a new garage (It's literally as big as their house if not bigger... I sometimes kick myself for signing that variance...) but guess what, the fence is still not fixed and the phone line is still across our yard. This means that parts of the fence essentially lay bent over in our yard to where we can't even mow under it, and we have to lift up the phone line to mow the lawn too. Additionally, there is a huge section of fence just completely missing, so their dog just comes over to visit whenever he feels like it.... I love their dog, don't get me wrong, but over the summer, when I'm laying in a lounge chair with headphones on and eyes closed, it's a little bit startling to suddenly have something licking your hand.........
ALSO, despite having this brand new monstrosity of a garage, they don't park any of their junky cars in it, and they just now finally put all of the crap in it that was sitting in their driveway for like a year and a half -- a seat from a car they don't own, rusty paint cans, etc. etc.
These are also the neighbors that come outside and ask us to "keep it down" every.single.time we have people over and we're outside after about 10pm. We are absolutely not even that loud..... ugh
And wowwww that got really long, lol. Basically our neighbors kinda suck, lol.
However I will say that the chicken salad is awesome, and made w/fresh chicken breast, homegrown poblano peppers and plain yogurt among the other few ingredients. So maybe it's not that terrible.
