I've had such a long struggle getting a computer again. And, this, while I'm taking online classes. Not a good time to make a move that took nearly a full week. But, I'm back, on a borrowed laptop until mine comes in (that's a whole 'nother story). Someday, I'll have furniture, too ![]()
So, fill me in on what's been going on this week. I've been hearing snippets, but I think I'm happy I've not been hearing more. I will be getting myself to a bar tonight for a viewing party for the debate. I wish there were other Denver folks on this board to meet up.
How sad is it that as I've been driving around town there were things I wanted to share with the board? You pro-Obama types would be cheered to see all the support here. I mean, I know they had the convention and all, but I didn't expect all the murals on so many buildings. It's exciting.
And, for my overheard story. It made me miss not understanding people around me (everything else about Denver is great!)
I was in Sur Le Table, and a woman was looking for gifts with the help of an employee. He was giving her some suggestions that were Christmas-y, and she steered him in the direction of Chanukah. His response: "Oh, it's too early for Chanukah. We only have Christmas stuff right now." This year, it's 3 days before Christmas, although I think usually it's a week or two before. I felt like being an ass and telling him this, but I was too happy from the sunny fall weather and being stateside to bother.

Re: back in business, and an overheard
I'm here, either in Denver or in the mountains skiing, for the next 2 years minus a couple trips to see H or family or wherever else I decide to need to travel to.
What do you do up here?
Next time I'm there, I'll look you up. My last trip through, last June, was too hectic for visiting anyone. I didn't even see my FIL. But, I'm sure that I'll be making more trips in the future especially once H comes back from his deployment. I'm sure he'll want to see his family and friends again.
I am seriously considering OHSC for master's work, though. So, maybe some time in the distant future I will be a true Oregon resident rather than just one on paper.
How does Dec. 19th sound? That's when my bed gets here; until then, it's an air mattress. All my furniture was put in storage when we moved to Japan, and it's not coming out for my tiny student apt. At least my kitchen should get here mid-November (with my heavy winter clothes which I needed this last weekend). Priorities. Food before sleep
