anyone a wedding planner here?

I'm looking to contact wedding planners and not because I'm getting married (done that already hehe) but I actually am looking into it as a career. Wanted to see if anyone here does this as their full time job, or knows of anyone that does. Just would like to learn more about the occupation firsthand because I'm considering it!

Re: anyone a wedding planner here?

  • Not a wedding planner, but I'm an event planner so maybe I can help a little...

I would google (craigslist, knot, whatever) wedding planners in your area and contact them asking to job shadow or even just to meet with them to discuss the job. You might want to send a resume and tell them why you are interested in the career. Everyone has to start somewhere, and they should be happy to help give you a little perspective.

Another thing, you might want to ask them about unpaid internships. That might be a good way to learn about the career and build a little bit of experience.

    Good luck!

  • I'm not either, but I want to be as well!!!!! I'm working on my business degree with a minor in communications. I agree with PP... contact local wedding planners in your area and talk to them. I did that and am now working along side someone who has been in the business for over 30 years! GL! :)
  • I've been doing it on the side for about a year now. My best advice would be, like PP said, to contact someone local and offer to shadow them. Good luck!
