I posted a car for sale on craigslist. I got an email response from some guy asking if it's still available. I responded saying it was. This is what I got back from the dude:
"Great. i will give you offer of $100 more than your asking price. i will be paying you with my PayPal account because it's attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment online. If my mode of payment is accepted just send me your PayPal email address,(PayPal ID) so i can pay in right away. Make sure you get back to me so that i can make the payment. I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after payments has been made, so no shipping included. And if you don't have a PayPal account, you can easily go to WWW.PayPal.com and sign up. its very easy. I await your reply asap".
This is just trying to get people to sign up for paypal, right?? I mean, no one would pay $100 more than asking price without even seeing the car and who sends a "courier" for a car?? I should just not even respond, right??
Re: So this is fishy, right?
Sounds like a load of crap to me!
Once I found a really nice house for rent on CL and it was hella cheap, like suspiciously so I emailed the people and asked if it was a typo, turns out it was a scam, they claimed they were renting it cheap because they had to go live in some random african country because they bid on some huge peice of land and "accidentally" won haha And that once you mail them the money they will mail you the keys.
We put our apartment on craigslist when we bought our house because our sh!tty landlord wouldn't let us out of our lease. We had one person email us right away and it got super sketchy real quick. He said that he lived in the UK but was going to be here for a year on business, he wanted more pictures because he wouldn't be able to see the place before he moved in-- that sounded reasonable, but then he said that his company was giving him $8000 for moving costs, and he would wire it over, I would take out the $3300 for first, last, and security and then send the rest to him for "decorating costs"
