apple picking

dh and i just went apple picking and i was shocked.  so many apples were already on the ground.  i feel like the season is peaking like a month early this year.  does it seem early to anyone else?

  • Yeah the dry summer means early harvests for just about everything.  Crazy!
  • We went to Brooksby Farm also this past weekend.  We go there every year.  They actually have both early season & late season varieties of apples, so we usually try to go 1x in Sept & 1x in October.  I don't know what the variety is called, but they have one really delicious type that usually isn't available until October...it's a yellowish color & has a texture/taste similar to an Asian pear...YUMMMM!!!

    Prices: Small 1/2 peck (~5lbs) $7

    Medium 1 peck (~10lbs) $13

Large (I think it was like a bushel??? maybe ~22lbs?) $23

Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

We tend to go to Honeypot, but there are ton in the Stow Bolton area near us.  It can get really crowded on the weekend, so to finish getting the rest of the apples I need I'm just going to buy a bushel at their farmstand, its cheaper to, but picking is fun.
